Is it absolutely necessary to tank in a raid to have full parrying and Endure? or can you rely on your gear and a decent healer.

I've avoided the CD's cause they are annoying to cast and don't have a benefit whatsoever in gameplay while leveling, but suddenly needing them at 50 seems stupid and rather baffling. can anyone experienced with raiding and or tanking please inform me.

I'm a hybrid build I prioritize damage and aggro control FYI

I don't know about anyone else but when I do raids, there are some bosses that will just chunk off like 3/4 of your HP in one hit regardless of how much defense you got. You're going to need Endure at those times. I don't really use Parry all that much since it's just a chance and parry caps at 70% anyways.

Endure to level 5, parrying is not necessary

You are the offtank, or the maintank? If you are maintank, is neccesary, if you are offtank, not much but is recommendable.

so you're shocked that those defensive cooldowns weren't necessary on trash mobs while questing but they are in raid bosses. your logic is amazing, i'm doing a study on people who think the way you do, would you like to take part?

I'm offtank but I use it all the time. The MT needs to keep aggro on the boss at all times, but there are those times when the OT needs to tank the boss or handle multiple adds. Sometimes those adds will be too much for OT's to handle so they have to throw on Endure. Especially, if priests are busy healing the MT/Party... OT's aren't usually prioritized for healing.

A good combo to use is Endure/Tension Relax. Makes a Warrior sustainable and puts less stress on the healers.

Tested recently on the NA version. Although parry is shown to "cap" at 70%, that is not entirely true.

Sure, they can get "100% parry" and it will indeed show in the "status screen". Though people digress that when you mouse over it, it will display [Level 49 = 70.00%] and [Level 51 = 70.00%]. That is more of a "visual issue" that I would guess "took too much time to change", seeing as though the "100% parry" is indeed existent.

My tests were rather simple to be honest;
1) Default Parry of 56% (with [Defender])
2) popped a [Master STR boost] potion (+112 STR) which puts me above 60% parry.
3) Used skill [Parrying] level 5 on top of that (hitting that 100% parry)

Of course, I would drag in a good amount of Level 50 mobs before doing so;
1) Road of Bless
2) Invader Goblins (bunch of red mobs close to each other)
3) Turn sound effects to "somewhat" loud (to hear the "parry" noise)
4) Drag as much monsters as possible
5) Keep an eye out (and your ears) to see (hear) the "parrying" effects.

What I've noticed was nearly all the hits were "parried" (considering the stacked effects). Where-as the hits that "appeared" to be "normal" damage were in fact "parried critical attacks" (as noticed from how my character would grunt and show visual recoil).

All in all, I would summarize that the rumored "max parry is actually 70%" may in fact be a slight laziness (or mistake) in programming the "visual aspect" within the status-screen. I mean seriously, even if they went all out to satisfy our "visual assumptions" by fixing it. They would have to go through some "work" to break the "visual cap" and shows that "temporary 100%" which would only last 10 seconds.

Edit: This would have been so much easier if they had a "damage log" for received damage.

IF YOU HAVE BATTLE TACTICS YOU DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT DAMAGE BUT YOU WILL NEED SOME DEFENSIVE STEROIDS IF YOU WANT TO TANK THINGS BECAUSE YOUR HEALER GOT LEVEL 1 HEAL BECAUSE HE IS NOT A PRIEST BUT A CRAZED MURDERER or just doing harder raids because everything hits like a truck.

I CAN STILL TANK PEOPLE WITH EPIC COLO WEAPONS WITH JUST A GOD DAMN GOBLIN LEADER WEAPON BECAUSE MY 1 MIL STILL HASN'T UPDATED YET

Did some further checks to re-affirm some suspicions regarding "parry rate". And found a somewhat shocking "twist".

Although "parry 100%" is confirmed and indeed existent. It seems "parry" can only take "effect" during the "animation". For example, if you take 1~4 mobs and activate "100% parry", your bound to basically parry ALL the incoming damage. Another example is, if you take nearing 10 mobs and activate "100% parry", you'll parry most of it, but not ALL of it.

What I've noticed from doing the 2nd example, was that I seemed to have parried all the incoming attacks once I did the animation (and shortly after it), but hits that came in once the "animation" completely ended were received as "normal". Re-affirmed myself by testing it on 1~4 mobs mobs (about 5 tests per mob group . . . so 20 tests total), and found myself parrying all the hits (seeing as though with little mob amounts they don not hit "fast" enough to "out-speed" the "parry animation". Raid boss wise, single target, and "safely" up to 3 for sure . . . you'll parry it all. But if you find yourself to be receiving hits "too fast" or "too many incoming damage", your "animation" will struggle to keep up.

So heres the further summary regarding the "100% parry". 100% parry indeed exists so long as they hit within your "animation" (in warrior-perspective it would be "as long as the huge sword is in front of you to take the hits").

Nice find. I'll just stick with Lv.3 parry then.

Can you do a series of tests against just 1 mob? That will eliminate the parry animation recovery issue in between attacks, which I do believe exists.

I hope parry doesn't cap out at 70%, but more testing needs to be done in my opinion.

it dont exist, also 70% is the natural cap(stat and equip) parrying can take it to 100% and ppl tend to prefer it because of the lower cooldown

I'm about to do a project called putting my boot up your behind. How about you take a hike? It wasn't just unnecessary on trash mobs, it wasn't necessary at any point up till level 50. In-fact most games have skills that make the ease of game play to the point where even brain dead people like yourself can do everything in the game with minimal input, or ingenuity. Which is why most things in MMO's are time sinks and not player skill capped.

This is the part where I say "DUH" and rub a pie in your face.

So unless your willing to participate in my project too, I suggest you go fly a kite instead of pick fights.

mobs 1-49 are trash mobs. also you're looking a little red there buddy, i think you need to take a chill pill and maybe go read a book, how about go outside and watch the clouds go by. i mean i understand why you're frustrated. your build kinda sucks at 50 and you gotta buy a reskill but its not the end of the world. *pats shoulder* there, all better?
