Are there any people still playing Sage as a melee soldier with using magic for that extra "Oomph"?
I just came back to RO when the renewal came and i had a level 73 sage waiting. I used to be stuck because his spell power was mediocre and he could not do any melee damage. I could only level like a mage on Mi Gaos and monsters like that. So all in all it was boring and slow as hell.
But now. Its a whole new world! I can fight monsters and get decent exp too. With the new system my melee damage is worth the effort and i can use level 10 bolts, because its alot quicker now. It even seems that it is going to be worthwhile to make a hybrid build, not just min max characters.
Anyway. This topic is here just to unite Sages who like to think of themselves as soldiers.

Just stick to pure int/agi Hindsight until you become a Sorcerer where you get a nifty little spell called "Striking" which gives a nice boost to your atk.

Well, Spellfist damage overrides whatever physical melee attack you're gonna do, so that defeats the purpose of getting str/atk (Unless for some reason, you're hitting with spellfist half of the time, and regular strikes the other half of the time).
Oh yeah, the only other spell that utilizes both atk and matk is Vartyr Spear.
