Hey everyone,

I have a full support Acolyte who I really love to death since her survival is pretty good. She can't kill anything fast and it takes forever to complete her quests by myself but I don't die that often while doing PvE. I usually play this character together with my best friend who plays a Ranger-to-be.

However I'd love to play something on the side that can actually do more damage, is enjoyable but is wanted in parties as well. I know a Beastmaster isn't really a hardcore DPS character but it appealed to me because of its ties with nature and I presume a tanking character has decent survivability? I also heard it has two self-heals and I'm wondering how useful these are.

Could any beastmasters share their experience with me? Do you need a lot of potions or do you get by with your heals? What skills do you absolutely love and couldn't be without? Do you have any pictures of your character? Please do share~! Did I leave something important about the beastmaster out? If so please enlighten me.

My beastmaster is only lvl 28, but at least on this level he's very much fun and very easy to solo with. I havent partied with him yet because I'm focussing on my priest and when I feel like partying I do it with him (which is why my bear is still lvl 28), but on my priest I do like bears as tanks since they are very good at surviving and give me some breathing room to keep the rest of the party alive. There are however a lot of people who don't understand that a beastmaster is a good tank apparently, going by the other topics on here.
Killing things is quite easy, especially if you don't go completely full tank and include bear (instead of only grizzly). Other DPS classes supposedly outdamage it by a mile later on, but at this low level bears kill very well.
The heals are awesome. What I do when I'm soloing my bear and need heals is I gather up 60 or 90 beast points in bear form, switch to grizzly for the +65% HP, then use survival and 2 or 3 cruel bites (gives you 10% of your max HP, NOT 10% of the damage as HP), returning 50% of my health (for 3 cruel bites, 2 would be 40% obviously), which once I go back to bear mode translates to 82.5% or almost all my health. So yeah, the healing skills are very good :) Also solo'd wolf cave and the khara field bosses up to Vespa easily (havent tried Vador), which priest can do as well, but beastmaster does more damage and still survives.

If you really want to know more though, I'd suggest reading through the various bear topics on the first page of this subforum, there's been a lot of discussion about them lately.

Thank you very much for your feedback, Finraziel. I appreciate it. Glad to hear from a priest-user as well. So far I've read all the Beastmaster guides here on the forum and the topics regarding beastmasters but everyone seems to have a different opinion on the bears. Personally I'd like to max both bear and grizzly.

I'm not sure about a lot of skills the beastmaster has. Should we be maxing out our AoE? What about our ranged stun? I don't see myself using it a lot. If I don't level the ranged stun, should I be maxing the roar skill?

These Beastmasters are so versatile. It's so hard to decide on the skill distribution, same for the stat distribution. I'll max out my strength most likely but then I can't decide on VIT or AGI. I'm inclined to go VIT though.

I'm a 50 BM and I really like it. Your main role will be tanking but if you have lvl 5 bear you can do the occasional DPS role. Tanks are needed quite often so you'll be in demand, not nearly as much as a priest though.
You will almost never need pots, simple. Your combo heals you for 50% of your max HP.

I went for 5 bear 5 grizzly 1 tiger, I kind of regret the 5 points in bear now since I only ever grizzly in the endgame content, but it did help me a lot for the 25-50 grind, up to you.
I think I have 50 str, 22 agi, 8 vit, the 22 agi came from my ranger, I didn't add anything into it after class change, if I were to do it again I might pour it all into vit.
The AoE is terrible and should be left at 1 point. The ranged stun is the roll/charge I assume, I have that at 1 point too because more points only affect cooldown. Same for roar, more levels only affects cooldown which is already low, I also leave that one at 1.

Tbh though, there are a bunch of 'core' skills that everyone will get to 5 and then there are lots of less important skills for which it comes down to personal preference, don't worry too much about them.

I have a 50 knight and a 50 grizzly. I think the DPS prefer running with the knight, the healer definitely prefers the bear though.

I like the bear better.

max the "ranged stun" only if you are interested in PvP, and the aoe stun is usefull in pve and pvp,

Agi vs Vit, i prefeer Agi, you can tank without problem if you asign all to AGI, and have an extra crit and dodge

I might recommend something like this for a hybrid build.

Have to admit it, Beastmaster is really fun.
By the endgame you have a lot of HP (possibly the highest) and can still deal fairly high damage, despite being tank. Not enough to be considered DPS, but still relatively high for Tank. Downside is, you lack good AoE skills. One stun, one low damage. No ranged skills whatsoever though.

Two heals is a better way to describe it. One self, one party.
It almost feels like a hybrid between Warrior and Rogue, but really lacking the damage of Rogue and the possible defense of Warrior.
