Which does the most dps? I would asume sorce, but I like the ideal of wizard and using fire tree. So if sorc is highest dps, how is wizards dps?

most will say sorc and it also has heals to help in parties or self.

 

I personally like my fire build no pts in anything else even though it is not recommended.

 

read some of the builds, use the calculators, maybe even watch a few vids and decide which will be the most fun for your style of play.

Sorc is easier/faster to lvl... their DPS at fields is higher than Wiz

Sorc farms BP way easier... way higher single target burst damage

Sorc get spots on decent RHD parties easier

Sorc get spots on decent Raid parties easier

Sorc can both DPS/Support at parties

 

Only pros that wiz has over Sorc is: DoT, most useful party buff(for itself, for the party Sorc wins again), better AoE... but the AoE is kinda pointless, as most hard content in this game is best suited for single target dpsing.

Wizards are by far the better dps than Sorcs because they can maintain their damage. You would think sorcs, but that it is only because they have the best bursting damage in the game and after the burst... it's pretty much just throwing snowballs.

It is said that sorcerers have the best nuke in the game, while wizards are more focused on sustained dps. Even when that could mean that sorcerers are better for PvP (actually I couldn't tell), I'm in love with my wizard. I have been playing with him for a while and I find him way more fun* and dynamic for PvP than the sorcerer. Sorcerers depends way too much on their nuke, also. If they miss a spell, they are pretty much screwed.

I haven't had any severe problem with my wizard overall :x

Wizards have the advantage of maintaining their damage over time whereas Sorcs are, like what's been said, bursty

It all depends on what you're playing, PvE or PvP. What it all comes down to is the amount of "seconds" available. In PvP (colosseum, WoE), where speed is a necessity, sorcs deal the highest DPS due to the incredibly high damage output of certain skills. In PvE, where more time is available and sustainability is far more important than the amount of damage that can be done in a short period of time (followed by cooldowns) so Wizards come out on top. 

 

Personally, I prefer Sorcerers, not because I enjoy PvP more than PvE, but because they are just a far more balanced, well-rounded class. The ability to deal out incredible amounts of damage and heal not only yourself, but your entire party as well, makes the Sorcerer class a must have.
