Which is a better class for pvp/woe

Mechanic, Genetic, Rune Knight or Ninja?

 

Are Mechanics viable pvp wise? If so what skill(s) do they use?

ninja is the worst class for everything. all of the dmg modifications make throwing useless in pvp. magic ninjas are alright though because of the instant cast spell they get but the low hp will leave them being the first ones to die most likely in a 1 on 1 unless the other player is just really really bad (which surprisingly enough is quite common LOL)

genetics pretty much just 1-2 shot everyone with acid bomb and have great crowd control with vines in WOE. pneuma is their worst nightmare though because it pretty much disables everything but their pets attacks. 

rune knights are pretty powerful because of dragonbreath, their runes, and tons of HP. most of the people playing them have super OP gear though, so its hard to gauge what a normal RK player will be like

mechanic has some of the best WOE abilities in the game including mass disables, making teamates untargetable, and a powerful self destruct that can instakill players around them. in 1 on 1 pvp, they can hold their own but arnt amazing unless built for high speed cart ramming (high agi) then you can spam dmg someone to death instantly

 

the latter 3 all have their strengths and weaknesses. its best just to play which one you enjoys gamestyle more, because thats all that really matters in the end. how much fun youre having and how well you master the class you choose

Ninja's suck, as tofu said. 

 

I disagree on his assessment of the other classes though. 

 

From a WoE perspective (I don't feel i'm an authority on PVP) 

 

Genetic is not a killer class. Acid bomb doesn't hurt with WoE set on, and vines doesn't even hurt butt naked. Genetic in WoE is an "offensive-supportive" class. Crazy vines effects a huge area and shreds ground effects (most importantly, including pneuma - contrary to what tofu said, pneuma is no problem for genetic. Just drop CV on it, and it's gone). In fact, that's the most important role of genetics - using crazy vines to shred enemy pneumas so that your dragon breath team can roast the enemies. There's also Howl - a very important debuff - and thorn wall, which knocks people back even in WoE. Plus depending on your homun, you may also be using that to your advantage. Oh, and you have the most important buff in WoE too - FCP. It's a waste of time to enter a fort (on any class) without FCP up, your gear will be broken the moment you meet the enemy, and without the reduction from woe set, you'll get vaporized by anything. 

 

Rune Knight is the backbone of most guilds' AoE DPS in WoE. I think DB is responsible for more kills in WoE than any other skill. The downside is that they are dependent on other classes to be useful. Without strings, you're useless, and if the enemy has pneumas up and your genetics aren't there, you're useless. Single target killing on RK is only marginally effective at best (crush strike doesn't kill most people with woe sets, HS doesn't kill anyone, and vellum katz can be outpotted and requires you to commit suicide by taking off your shield), but you're an engine of destruction with strings + sacra, backed up by a half-decent genetic (or your enemy's incompetent priests). Few things are more satisfying than running into enemy strings and rocking their whole guild while their priests sit around healing instead of pneumaing. Note also that Haglas rune gives you freeze+stone immunity, so you can wear fire woe armor and not freeze. 

 

Mechanic is useful in WoE. They're helpful with NB/etc - however I rarely see these skills being used effectively. The most impressive skill of mechanics is SD, which kills everyone in range, pretty much. Obviously, this has enormous potential to change the course of a battle. You're also the top priority target for that reason. SD also has a 5 minute cooldown. I know several people who have multiple lvl 150/50 mechanics that they use during WoE to get more SDs than they could with the cooldown. If being a suicide bomber excites you, you'll love playing mechanic in WoE.

Azzy has a very good explanation.

And I want to repeat after him do NOT use Acid Bomb in WoE. You will never, ever kill anyone will it unless they are like 1% hp by default. If you want to support with damage, use hell's plant or FE lv5 (with buffs your FE cast should be similar or faster than your AB cast time, not to mention its DEF piercing).
