Tier 2 Bound Item system proposal

 

Very recently we have started the process of unbinding key high end set gear on Classic. As we originally stated when implementing these gear in bound status originally is that what we would eventually do is to unbind the gears and introduce a exchanger NPC that would allow you to trade in towards a slightly more powerful, but account bound version of the item. Adding enhancements that could be re-rolled would be a way of creating a zeny sink in the Classic economy, with players trying to get the enchantment they want before putting their cards in. This would also give a strong incentive to upgrade items, and the need to keep cycling in new gears for upgrading and to replace the Tier II bound versions would keep the demand for these gears high. Any adjustment of high end gear brings with it a lot of uncertainty over how it will affect the balance of the game, so we are listening for constructive suggestions to help us attain the goals stated above while enhancing your play experience. 

 

This week is for comments before implementation, if you've already commented in the maintenance thread we already have that taken into account.
 

To trade in an item you have to have it at +8 refinement and talk to Wayland the Smith (prontera 148 191) for Accessories it will cost 500,000 zeny to turn in. When you turn in the item any card currently in the item will be returned to you when you receive the account bound version.
 
First thing we dispensed with was the Headgears. The bound version of these headgears all became a Top Middle item with 1-2 slots. This makes them equal to having the old headgear plus a slotted mid(built into the upper gear)

Morrigane Helm [1]
 
Next for the rest of the items, if they did not have a slot yet they received one.

Morrigane's Belt

From user comments adding a slot to these gears would be a mistake that opens up a can of worms with a smaller can of worms inside that is already open sitting inside. Should we look at expanding the enchantment list?

 

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, why this isn't enough for me! So we threw in one more thing. Enchantments! 
When the item (not a headgear) is traded in you will receive one random enchantment on the item. Below is the enchantment list.

You will be able to reroll the enchantment you received as many times as you wish for 250,000 zeny each roll. The reroll has a small chance to remove all enchantments from the item. When you reroll the enchantment all refinements and cards will be lost, so it is best to get the enchantment you want before upgrading the item.

If you want to add slots to things you have to LESSEN the effects they have. Like if you bumped the vali's from 15% to like 7%(27% after raydric) it'd be good but not BEST IN SLOT BY 100 MILES.


Also you should forum ban people for a few days with nothing constructive to say. Changing the way classic plays is needed it's so effing boring as is.

Please don't do this

There is so much things you can do to make the server better than just doing this.  You went from fixing the server to giving it such great hope and a way to grow to the total opposite direction.

They're not idiots they're at least warning us before they make changes so we can totally trash the idea or make it into one that works.

 

Anyway, If you want to do anything drop the +sp and hp enchantments on anything but headgear, don't add two slots to headgear items they will function fine with one slot, and if you need a zeny sink you could put a kafra service that slots Middles that are in the game.

There has been so many great ideas for the classic server from the community, still you decide to add something like this that makes no sense at all. Sorry but this is a terrible idea.

Reasoning:

Your enchants allow a player to focus too much onto certain stats, which is what makes it game breaking.  If you enchant every piece of gear with SP, you can increase your base SP pool by ~200, which is... horrifying.  My suggestion is to focus specific gear categories so that the total effect of enchants is spread, not focused.  This makes each individual effect small (but noticeable), and changes it to a build optimization more of a STACK SP ON CHAMP REROLL 41 STR RUN SERVER ordeal.

 

And the main reason I put the idea forth is that I know you are going to have something done.  So, okay, but remove the players ability to focus so hard on stats/traits.  It's a minor boon, not a build decider.

No one wants this. This isn't even a real zeny sink. 250k, no chance of breaking? Come on now. If you want a zeny sink, add in a slotted mid quest that costs 10-50mil to do.

Also don't add the slotted mid with any stats on it, Classic shouldn't have those.

 

This just lets me recall the quit of from pre-renewal to renewal.

or how about you unbind sunnies and only rarely put them in (costly coupons); and put in acc bound mids that are a lot cheaper.

so people get to share their rare carded gears if they pay enough, but people with lower pockets dont get cut out.

 

you can also copy the hidden enchanter, and make him 100% destruction safe, but let him deal out acc bound armors.

you can use the same concept at slot enchanting equip/weapons, add a 2nd "safe slotter" who can slot without breaking but make the gear bound.

 

 

however it's clear people generally don't want bound gear to be any stronger than unbound gear.

People just don't want to have the choice between

  • spending lots of $ on a gear and beeing unable to use it on all their accs & friends and/or
  • spending lots of $ on a gear that isn't even the best you can get.

 

ps

binding gear should be an option for the player to secure lock their gears, not for the GMs to devalue player's gears.

Remove Ulles from the list please, it shouldn't get an extra slot at all. On second thought drop all enchantment bonuses on all items but headgear's.

 

Binding an item by choice to a account should only be for the purpose of protecting items if the person likes to lend out the account.

 

Morpheus Hood remove slot and remove all enchantments from everything.

 

The only thing I could think of being added would be putting a single slot on a magni's cap and nothing else.

 

It would be better to just drop the idea altogether.

The Tier 2 Bound Item system would be imbalanced. It would completely flip the game and screw over a lot of character builds. Don't do it.

no extra slot, please.

 

for accessories, perhap make it require 5-10 of the same accessory to make it bound.

 

for all other armors, say maybe a +8 and extra 2-5, any +/carded, same armors
