So, for my hacking case, they're asking for:

-Ticket number
- A clear and legible photocopy of a government issued identification document, clearly showing a picture of you and your name. You may use any government issued form of identification like State ID Card, Driver's License, Passport, Military ID, etc. 
- Account ID 
- Full name 
- Mailing address 
- Phone number 
- ZIP code 
- country of residence [Nationality]

 

What? Why? And how does this relate to getting my account and items back. Not to mention, I've had this ticket open for more than a month now.

 

 

Oh, and they want me to fax it to them, what?

That's how they verify that you are indeed the owner of the account?

 

Faxing it adds a further barrier to doing it. For really important account-related things, they require faxed ID. They shred the faxes after verifying, supposedly. I had to do it once to get an account I lost the email for back.

Copycop and similar copy stores will have a fax machine, as do many businesses. Fax requirement keeps out the riff-raff.

I thought that was only something they did in the past. There are ticket contents that used to require this procedure but I noticed they don't always follow through with this whole fax business

Yeah I remember them asking to do this, especially for an account hacking case lol.

I used one of those websites that let you send a fax when I had to do it ages ago! I would say do that.

It's also complete bull, because I have had to do this before too. However, I don't use real information when filling out account info for games, so technically my real information on the card is not the real owner of the account. They probably look at payment info also, but it's still super stupid to require this.

Often this is done if two users are claiming that they are the real user of the account.

You really should use real info (see terms of service, providing fake info is prohibited)

 

 

The account I had to do this on was made using fake info (I think that's why I had to go through so much pain for it). 

 

I explained this clearly to the GMs when I submitted my tickets and I got my account back and bound to my WP account, with the information matching my real info.
