hi could somebody please help recently come back after a nice long break homuns are now s type ive changed my old 99 vani and been trying to get to lvl 100 for what seems like over a week been lvling it in good old orc dungeon my question is its exp bar is at -48242.4 its takeing so damn long to get this lvl just cant seem to get any job lvlsis this normal for the renewal or do I have a problem ?any help appreciated. thanks

DO NOT LEVEL IT TO 100! 

 

If you level a homun past 99 before evolving it to homun S you permanently miss out on stats!

 

It may be that the reason it's taking you so long is that they put in something to prevent people from leveling past 99 without changing to homun S, so people can't shoot themselves in the foot like that. 

 

 

 

To change homun to homun S, it must be level 99 (or higher, but if it's higher, you permanently miss out on stats and hp/sp) and evolved, and you must be a genetic. Then you take it to the NPC and go through the brief quest to change it to homun S. 

 

And yes, job levels aren't super fast at the start of third job like they are at the start of second job. Really, it's a huge bummer, because you change to third job, but you have to grind out a bunch of levels before your're really a third job char, for the purposes of what your character can do. And you don't get job exp from homun kills, if you didn't remember.

Quest Homunculus S Requirements Base Level: None Class: Geneticist Item(s) (Not Consumed): Evolved Level 99 Homunculus Zeny: 50,000 (Optional) Quest Prerequisite(s): Bioethics Quest Rewards Quest Reward(s): Evolve Homunculus into an S-type

1. In the Geneticist guild in Lighthalzen, (lighthalzen 53, 132) speak with Viorel, (job3_gen01 12, 44). Agree to visit Viorel's home.
2. You will be teleported to Viorel's house. Talk to him again, and explore Homunculus Mutation System. He will send you to Jeyna.
3. Talk to Jeyna; she will ask you to check the Magic Board behind her. This will give brief explanation of the Homunculus S.
4. Talk to Jeyna again. If you agreed to proceed, she will transform your Homunculus back to a Strange Embryo. Talk to her again and she will send you to Viorel.
5. Talk to Viorel. He will give you and option to pay 50,000 zeny for a stabilize mutation, or not pay at all but receive unstable mutation.
6. Choose to pay in order to choose the Homunculus S that you like. He will then transform the embryo to your chosen Homunculus S. Talk to him again to leave the place.

 

For the inevitable what homun S type should I make question:

 

Sera for PVM (painkiller makes you nearly immortal, levels fast when you get mist), Dieter for WoE/PVM (ash in woe, pyro outside, levels well with LS/MF), Eira for WoE (silence people with breeze, break emps with boost).

Hmm ive done everything as you said I am a gene my old homun was lvl 99 years ago and was evolved

the exp on the homun was 999999 then I did the gene job change then did the homun change to the new

pet I can only presume it had to much exp on it its still stuck at lvl 99 and trying to get this to 100

will take a longgggggggg time you say don't go to lvl 100? I thought the new homuns went to 150?

You said you had a vani in first post - don't go past 99 if your homun is still a vani. 

 

Once you've changed it to homun S, you should be able to level it normally.

ok im sure it has gone wrong so I have deleted it and restarted already lvl 80 now when I get to lvl 99 on this homun do I use stone of sage to evolve it straight away do I need it at loyal and how do u hit lvl 99 without going over 99 cus as I remember the homun gains exp to 999999

Needs to be loyal. 

 

When it gets to level 99, simply stop leveling it. Do the rest of the loyaling in town.

azzy, cuirous, i heard that pre renewal homun are better then renewal ones... so... i changed my vani at lvl 100 o a sera... should i still remake then since i lost 1 lvl of stats.  Just curious how the renewal/prerenewal homun will change.

What was what again? Necroing aside, you can choose a Homunculus S of your choice when you are evolving it. A Vanilmirth can be evolved into Eira, Sera, Bayeri, Dieter, and Eleanor. Likewise with the rest. People follow a specific route depending on their needs. Tanking = Amistr base. Brewing = Vanil>Sera for Pain Killer and so on.
