Wow, my first anime shows are pretty old -- Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer (both dubbed very badly and humorously into English) in the 1970's when I was a child, but it was a video game that brought me back to anime as an adult. Squaresoft's Xenogears has amazing anime cutscenes. After raving about them to a friend, she suggested I watch Fushigi Yugi, then I found Card Captor Sakura (the subtitled version, not the horribly mangled dubbed version Cardcaptors) and then...
Well, collecting anime cels is a very expensive hobby, but it was quite rewarding for a long time.
Forever Dreaming (my anime cel gallery)
I haven't added anything new in years, mostly because it's so hard to find production artwork now that most anime shows are CG. The last anime shows that really caught my eye were Black Blood Brothers and Saiunkoku Monogatari.

First anime = Pokémon of course! <3 then Yu-Gi-Oh and stuff that they just aired on TV then back in 2011 I think, I started watching anime a lot(before that I just watched on and off) and thus this list was born and continues to grow. Nothing really helped me start watching anime, I just liked the amount of action you get in something animated rather than real life movies, and I don't watch then on any anime airing site I download them from here. Also, I HATE DUBBED ANIME.

Akira,I've watched it before once on tv. I didn't see it from the beginning,so I didn't understand it completely,so why did that guy have powers and mutate into a monster near the end?

IIRC, he came into contact with psychic characters and showed that he had some latent ability so he was spirited away to the facility, experimented on, unleashing the powers that he could not control.

I bought Xenogears for playing on my Vita, and man do those Anime inspired jRPGs love insane political intrigue. I'm just starting with the game and there is so much crazy information about the world and factions being shoehorned in the first few hours.

Happened to me when i started playing tales of the abyss on the ps2,all the faction issue was really confusing at the beggining plus them wanting you to go to "insert city fictional name" without giving much more than vague hints as if you knew where it was ,after i started the 2nd gameplay though it was just as if i had putted the map together myself and my brain was so full of data i wished it was what came on exams at school back then, haha.
Back on topic i'm currently watching Gintama,it's pretty hilarious,a friend wants me to watch angel beats but i don't really feel in the mood of watching anything too serious now ~_~ i will eventually though.

Shazam watches anime? What is this... Magic, but still I have been told that the Evangelion TV series is bad.

Leiji Matsumoto stuff especially Captain Harlock.
Planetes
Paprika
Locke the Superman
Casheern
Detroit Metal City
Samurai Champloo
Basilisk
Ninja Scroll
Mazinger Z
Patlabor
Akira
Cyborg 009
I have been told that the Evangelion TV series is bad.
Evangelion is slightly overrated, animation and the last two chapter tend to be the lowest points of the series but for a lot of people it was a great show and the plot was kind of clever. Besides End of Evangelion is hilarious.

Yeah, that series got pretty weird. Evangelion is really a cult anime in the truest sense. The people who love it really love it and the people who don't are me.
I've been meaning to watch more of Patlabor, I watched one of the movies but never saw the series.

Just finished watching K Project, really confusing in the beginning but easy to adapt later, I really took a liking into the main protagonist. There wasn't as much of the action I expected but it was pretty good.
