Someone has been trying to impersonate a GM recently, their goal? I don't know. I didn't get far enough into the conversation.
The trick?
I've seen it before, and know the general idea of how it's done, but I'd have to experiment a few times to get it right
Here's what to look out for:
Myself: Hello iRO GM 08: Hello
On paper, this just looks silly, but in game, when done right, this is what it looks like:
Myself: Hello
iRO GM 08: Hello
This can be easily identified from a chat room, or pm. Note that in a pm only 1 person can talk to you through there. A GM will not join in.
In a chat room, each characters name will be listed. If they are not listed, they do not exist. If you see iRO GM 08 "talk" in your chat room, but don't see their name listed, then the other person is likely using the above method to impersonate them.
Dilemma: In regular all chat it can be difficult to differentiate real from fake players, especially in a crowded area. Note that GMs will have different color text and will not ask you to reveal account information or talk to you through a third party program. Be sure to open a 1:1 chat or a chatroom if you are suspicious.
Be careful when dealing with your account!
