Aw... great. I get to look forward to more versions of the thief bug. It's kind of hilarious seeing them scurry after the items though

I literally just started today. How different was Ragnarok back in the day? As of now I'm enjoying it very much.

Back in the day(for me at least), there weren't any third class(Royal Guard, Rune Knight, Arch Bishop, Warlock, Sorcerer, Mechanic, Guillotine Cross, Shadow Chaser, Sura, Geneticist, Ranger, Maestro or Wanderer), and there wasn't any Eden Group. Leveling was a LOT more grinding than it is right now, seeing as there are Turn In quests that give you a fair amount of EXP.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like all the new classes, and skills(even if some get abused by people to troll others), but there is just something to say about when everything was hard earned, and everyone in a party played their role(support, DPS, etc). I do miss the days where the regular old maps, that were put in there with lots of detail, were used for leveling, and not just ignored while everyone floods into the Turn In quest maps(at level 70+), and most of them don't do anything but pretend to be doing something useful.

Oh wow, that's a lot of new classes. And to think I just went basic swordsman, sword and shield style haha. I feel like this game will be hard to play solo. Is it possible to thrive on here alone?

Don't worry. There is a quest called Turn-In which basically requests you to kill 400 spesific monsters in a specialised map. In that map, you can join any recruiting party to do the quest.

Hehe, well I was grinding on hornets for a long time so I think I could handle it
(as long as I can manage to get new gear)

There are lots of new players lately
Welcome to Ragnarok!

EDIT: to ZeroTigress, I tried connecting to it, but the connection failed each time I tried! I'm not sure the cause of it

back in my day sonny....
lol seriously. everyone spends so much time reminiscing of the 'good ol grindy days'. the only reason we put up with the grind back then was because we didnt have any other options. most mmo's were grindfests till world of warcraft came out and revolutionized the mmo industry (as well as slaughtered it). now real mmorpgs actually exist with quests and dungeons and raids. new ragnarok is a ton times more fun to play, despite the messed up economic situation now and the fact that many classes are useless/broken.

If you're new, here's a couple of resources that you might find useful:
iRO Wiki is exactly what it sounds like, a wiki site detailing RO mechanics, quests, and the like. The wiki also hosts a skill calculator and a stat calculator, which will help you min/max yourself to success. In addition, the wiki hosts one of the most comprehensive item, monster, and map databases around. Use the database to plan out your equipment or to find monsters that will give you the most EXP for your level. This wiki is geared toward Renewal; I think there's another wiki for Classic, but I'm not sure what the URL is. Sorry.
Ragial is an open market site that you can use to find the items you need and search for the best deals. It's updated frequently with prices, shop name, and shop location, making it a valuable resource. Especially when you're strapped for cash and need to find the cheapest price on equipment or supplies.
Welcome to iRO! I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to message me in game (characters can be found in the links in my signature) anytime if you have questions or need help.

You know HealingPalms, I get a bit annoyed with killedbytofu's constant complaining as well, but the vulgar gendered insult isn't at all necessary. That's just plain rude.
