Thinking of rolling a Rogue, but can't decide on either BlackSmith for the dual daggers, or Artisan for armor & runes

Artisan. Swag guardian, make your own runes and what not.

I'd also recommend artisan. Easy to level up, useful, and as Klyde said, swag guardian!

Since we are on the subject of artisan, How EXACTLY is it easy to level up?

My Artisan alt never made anything except things for herself to wear or to progress in the guardian quest and she's 41 Sorc 45 Artisan. I can only imagine how fast it would go if I actually tried to level by making things from these piles of materials.

because you can pick up loot right after killing most mobs in the world, which means you don't have to go out of your way picking up flowers, killing specific mobs for chef recipes, etc. It's all there while you're killing & lvling up

Ingredients from monsters aren't a problem as a chef. It's the Spirit of Ruin and junk to go with them and the sheer quantity of useless food you have to make. I crafted stacks and stacks of food with the ingredients I naturally found. More food than I've used to date. Artisans, in contrast, just refine the drops into their final crafting form without using up anything and that xp alone is enough to level with.
Of course this point is moot because I'd never recommend the chef job to anyone. In addition to being painful to progress through, there's nothing of significant value even at job level 50. I'm still getting attendance reward food faster than I eat it.

Since it seems like the new Starter Package gives you a free Guardian Rune, I'd suggest going Artisan for the sake of leveling and change it to another Job after you hit job level 50 (if you're not happy with Artisan, that is). You'll have time to decide while leveling it and getting to know the game better.

Anywhere I can find a list of what you get from the starter pack? & is that starter pack the one you get in the mailbox for new characters?
