Ok, this is gonna be a fairly Controversial post imo but am I the only one that thinks that, in addition to nerfing Varatyr Spear/Jupitel Thunder, Sorcs need a buff? I mean when you actually think about it, what does the Sorc have if it doesn't have VS/JP? Cold Bolt and Lightning bolt are both weak and those are the only two main moves they have. I suppose they can use the Fire Spells but that'd cut into their healing spells which apparently are as op as VS according to some people on this thread. 

 

My proposed nerf to Varatyr Spear would be this. Increase it's power to 110 - 130% but make it so that it cant crit. Right now, Varatyr Spear has 80% power. With Wind procs/freeze it goes to 160% power and with Procs and crit, it goes up to 320% power. I can admit, that's stupidly powerful but if you just make it so that it cant crit, Varatyr Spear's power becomes stupidly low on a class that's only form of DPS is hugely dependant on it's Burst power. Increasing the power while at the same time negating the crit would balance it out well.

 

I have a proposed nerf/buff for Jupitel Thunder as well. Increase it's power to 80% and change it's effect so that if it hits a frozen target or is used while you have wind procs, it gives the target a DOT debuff if it connects. I propose this nerf because I feel as though Jupitel Thunder has more potential than just a weaker Varatyr Spear. Even right now, there's no difference between the 2 other than Jupitel Thunder being weaker and not having a stun effect. I think Jupitel Thunder needs to be different From Varatyr Spear. The DOT debuff would not only make it different, but would add a little more consistency to the Sorc's DPS which they really need.

 

However, if you do Balance VS and JP out so that their not stupidly powerful, what then? What does the sorc have besides those two moves in the form of DPS? Repeating my argument from earlier, Cold and Lightning bolt are both to weak to really do anything and if you use the fire tree, your cutting into your healing. I personally like my hybrid Sorc because of the variety in it's moveset. I like healing while having good DPS at the same time. No other class can really do it like the Sorc can. I really think we shouldn't just be thinking about a nerf to the sorc. We need to think of a way to make it's DPS more consistent and balanced while keeping the variety and power of the Sorc. Dont just foolishly nerf this class and expect everything to be ok! Varatyr Spear is not the Sorcerers only problem!

I don't think Sorcs need a buff, but your changes to VS might be nice. Having consistency is very beneficial in colo, and being more sure of how much damage you will do would make things easier. At the same time making VS weaker would appease those who think it's too strong. I think that if this is done, it should only be done in colo though.

 

Moving on to JT, I don't agree with the changes. JT is different. It has a cast time, doesn't stun, is noticeably weaker, has no cooldown compared to VS and flies much faster. JT with JTM proc is better than VS at finishing because VS is a giant flag to anyone standing around to ready for a kill steal, or if the sorc is trying to steal, JT's speed makes it much more likely that your target won't die while your attack is in midair. JT's low cooldown also makes it less risky to throw out, but most of the time you need to deal with its cast time, which balances it out somewhat. Another thing about VS is that it's the Sorc's stun and biggest attack. Sorcs can't separate the stun from the attack, so it's all or nothing. JT gives you a nice second option for a big attack and allows you to save the stun until you really want to use it.

I'm glad you agree with my Varatyr Spear idea in any case.

 

If we actually went with my idea for Varatyr Spear, It and Jupitel Thunder would be at about the same power or even Jupitel Thunder being Stronger. Jupitel Thunder as it is now, does 256% Damage max. If we nerfed Varatyr Spear to my idea it'd be 220-260% max. The stun would be nice but Varatyr Spear is supposed to be the Sorcs best attack. For it to be on the same level or even weaker than Jupitel Thunder would seem.... kinda lame. It's just my opinion though.

 

Also, on the consistency issue and this only being applied to colo, I remember finally making my ranger at one point and getting a bunch of skill for it with my leftover skill points. I was awe-struck by how consistent the Ranger is even though it doesn't have nearly as much burst as a sorc. It also does just a well if not better than a sorc in colo. I actually hate using the sorc sometimes just because of how inconsistent it is. This doesn't just apply to colo where sometimes I just cant get that kill because the games RNG decided so but also out of colo where it feels just a little more monotonous Varatyr spear is my only real skill and everything else just sucks.

pay to win BM, i saw one winning colo once, since the server opened.

 

I did not pay a penny to this game, Neither have anyone ever helped me.

My best pet is a mermiad, I have no mayor plumberge, no cape, No 2+ slot costume items, My best rune is +7.

It took me 4 months to get full colo, I created my BM about 5 days after the servers went public and it is the only char i have. :p_smile:

 

I have 28 victory medals, I don't think that is a lot, I've seen people with like 60 or 70 :p_swt:

I became champion of colosseum with my sorc which isn't full colo, yet and without pets, wind elixirs pr graham/spinel potions(I did have 7 day VIP though, as I saved it and used 3 day VIP for leveling).

 

Yesterday I went to colo as usual, and even thogh I was without pets, wind elixirs. VIP or grahan/spinel potions, etc. I was second in last round because I kept being stunned by exe / sticked to the ground by embus etc.

 

I guess in the end it's more about how you play than what you have.

 

Although it did piss me off to be beaten by Pokemon Masters at a RO2 Colosseum.

 

P.s. I also got to round 4 on my level 20 archer. L2P then complain. The truth about sorcs.
