So, I was in Byalan Dungeon doing the Phen hunting quest...and one dropped its card!! (like 30secs later an Eremes Guile killed me, but that's another topic...)

 

From what I've read so far Phen cards help a lot (and are worth a lot, like 25million zeny according to ragial) So I was wondering if I should use it on a clip for my future ME Priest and other magic classes I want to have,  or vend it (alone or compounded onto the clip)

 

What other classes and builds benefit from a Phen Card?

 

Should I put it onto the clip or onto another accessory?

 

How I do the 'Phen switch'? (yes, yes... I understand that I use the skill with a Phen clip, but to what I switch? Do I need another card and accessory?

The decision between vend it or use it depends on what other gears are more important for you to buy right now. Another thing to consider is if you are VIP and below level 70, you can look up the Overlook Dungeon quest. You can get a phen card upon completing that quest. 

 

As for the uses: 

Rangers using arrow storm need it

Crusaders need it for sacrifice

Mage classes need it for pretty much everything

Acolyte needs it for buffing while under attack

Geneticists need it for cart cannon 

Suras need it for windmill and casting zen while under attack

 

Clip is the most versatile accessory to put it in especially when you're leveling new characters. 

 

Let's say you have two accessories: a phen clip and a zerom nile rose. What you would want to do is start casting with the zerom nile rose on, and then hit your hotkey for phen clip so that when a monster hits you, the cast won't be interrupted. Before you start your next cast, press your hotkey for zerom nile rose and start the cast, then press your hotkey for phen clip while you're in the cast. That's called phen switching.

Cat hand glove is better than clip. The bonus sp from clip is nothing compared to +1 all stats, especially for higher levels.

Gen's need it for AB too. 

 

If you sell it, sell it as the bare card. A card that's compounded on an item is ALWAYS worth less than the card + item value, because when you have the card, you can put it in whatever you want, but once it's carded, you can't go back, so it's less versatile.

Guess I'll keep it then.  Since it happens that all classes Kevin mentioned interest me a lot (and thank you for explaining the 'Phen Switch').  Not to mention Dr. Azzy's observation of Acid Bomb (for a MVP Gen)

 

The doubt now is if I stick it to the clip or onto something else....is there any accessory with effects that trump the Clip's versatility? (I think I can get the VIP soon to do Overlook and get another card)

Clip is never the right choice now. Cat hand glove is better. 

 

There are even better options depending on the class.

Actually, I plan to make an Aco in my alt account and develop him into a ME-Support Priest/High Priest/AB (which I mentioned in my first post)

 

Though I wanted to know if a Phen Clip would be useful in my other characters, and Kevin has given some examples.

 

Also, I'm intrigued about Dr. Azzy's post about Clip being inferior to Cat Hand Glove 'now' (I assume is because of Renewal mechanics) and I would definitively love if he would expand about the better options according to class...(not to mention Phen vs Bloody Butterfly) but it seems to me that I would be abusing his kindness.

Like I said, very situational where clip is better than cat hand glove. Nothing to do with mechanics, cat hand glove just give better stats than +10 SP, that's it.
