I'm new to magicians, so I don't know what's the deal here.
Anyay...
Why do people decide to NOT get multi-lightning and meteor rush?
What're the main skills a monk should be using to attack?
Are there any builds for attack monks out there(that are up to date)?

Thanks in advance.

Yo!

People don't get multi-lightning because it doesn't hit more than once, it just hits more enemies in a wider arc, all one time (which really isn't useful at all). People don't get Meteor Rush because it eliminates the launching feature of Meteor Fall (which makes that skill pretty useless).

Main skills for attack are X-spam (w/ Diffusion Cannon until level 40, then Double Shot after level 40), debuffs (Barbarian, Witch's Curse, Quagmire), stuns (Chain Lightning) and the new damage skills (mostly Spark Rock, although you can use Rain of Fire too if you're into that).

I don't think there are any offense-oriented builds around right now, but I will be updating my priest/shaman (old class names) guide to include new builds optimized for the latest changes to the game. It's going to take a few weeks, though, because I have to test things out and learn how to best utilize the new skills, whether any old skills are now obsolete, etc.

Anyways, hope that helps somewhat.

^ Extremely helpful!

Do you know anything about battlemages? I was going to go that route since it had more attacks, but I was told they were "bogusfied beyond belief" and that monks would be better in terms of damage dealing. It's hard to tell since the skills all look good, but that's only on paper.

warlocks (bm/wm) arent like totally omfgtheysuck now. its just the action of "spell/animation cancel" has been taken away. other then that, some other changes just include the need for aim and spells are able to crit now.

overall, i think both monk and warlock are fun. it is a matter of personal preference.
pve-wise: perhaps warlock might excel a bit here since they have many aoe spells. however monks have high dps (x spam) so that may make up for the lack of offensive skills (though they have become a bit more offensive now with the introduction of new skills: fire rain and spark rock)

pvp-wise: both are interesting in their own ways. for warlock, once your opponent gets caught frozen or something, then it may be GG for them. again, warlocks have many aoe skills that are useful in group pvps (but still good for 1v1s). might be a little not used to them at first as it may be a bit frustrating to catch your opponent and lock them in place. but you will soon get used to it and discover effective strategies and tricks so dont worry. as for monk, they can prove to be quite an annoying class, oftentimes aimed by opponents first, since they have the ability to heal/cure, and also they have some pretty annoying skills like witches curse and quagmire. so i suppose if you like to annoy and sort of "piss your opponent off" at times then maybe go for monk.
