We've seen how to fix it, but why does it actually happen?
Will this ever be fixed in a patch so we don't have to fix it ourselves every time?

I'm not much since I know how to fix it. But I do think these little problems cause a lot of frustration and a lower outlook of the game. I saw your post in the other NPC text thread. Since you are running vista, click the rose desktop icon, go to properties, click run compatibility with windows SP2,and run program as admin. Now repeat the same steps for ALL USERS. If you already did all of those steps, then you should unclick all of it, apply, repeat for all users, then fill it all up again.

just did tht but worked it out for meself it wooorks but i gonna turn uac off again now like im meant to but i hope it doesnt mess it up

I just tried what worked last patch and now it all of the sudden doesn't work. None of the stickies worked for me.. We need a permanent fix, a real one, for everybody! Come on Gravity...

Because you probably had UAC on ?

holy the only way i can get text to show atm is with uac ON so maybe not becaus he has uac on

That is the only way I've ever seen text, is with UAC on. I have tried with UAC off and nothing shows either.

no matter what i do with compati settings on anything npc text is missing unless uac is on ..this happend since last patch

It is random. The triggering to disappear mostly happens with UAC on.

I think they really do need to sort out this problem i wonder how many new players they've lost just cos of this?
