Anyone have any clue how to fix these error messages and get the game starting?

Thanks in advance,

Greetings! The audio system error message is due to no sound output device being plugged into the computer. Please plug in a headphones or speakers! Or run setup and toggle "No Sound"

Do you have the nospam.dll in your Ragnarok Online folder?

Greetings to you too Sir Campitor,

I am going to try what you suggested. I do not know if that file is in the folder, I have not checked manually. In case if I do, should I delete it?

The nospam.dll file is in the data folder in RO, but it still gives me that error message (could not load nospam.dll). I toggled off the no sound on the setup and now it gives me a new error message:

* Cannot init d3d grf file has problem

This is strange, so I toggled the sound back on and the game starts now but it still gives me the first error message before it starts:

* Could Not load NoSpam.dll

but the game is up and running now

Can the nospam problem be caused by missing MSVC++ runtime files, or does that give a different error?

The nospam.dll file is in the data folder in RO, but it still gives me that error message (could not load nospam.dll). I toggled off the no sound on the setup and now it gives me a new error message:

* Cannot init d3d grf file has problem

Open setup, and select an option in both the first two menus.

If using Windows 8/8.1, and no options are displayed in either of the first two menus, rightclick setup -> properties, compatibility tab, set compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3 and see if that allows you to set an option in the first two menus.

If that doesn't, or if you're using older versions of windows, ensure that graphics drivers and direct x are installed correctly.

I'd wager directx isn't working right, since it couldn't see the sound device either.

Edit: What the heck? That's weird. Maybe the settings were mangled and  fiddling with them in setup saved them correctly?

Yes, the error message "Could not load NoSpam.dll" ("load" is apparently misspelled "laod") is presented when NoSpam fails to initialise due to the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable not being installed.

I'd wager directx isn't working right, since it couldn't see the sound device either.

I concur.

Hellraiser, you should check that DirectX is working correctly using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
