What's better to use in jewelry / weapons for AOE mages, Int gems, or Atk power gems?

Well, I suggest T7. With the change in how gem stats are calculated, they were better than D7s before the skill upate. Now since the update, idk if gem stats were changed or not. You may have to do some experimentation.

Diamonds give more attack power than main stat gems for all classes now. If you are looking for pure damage then Diamonds will be the choice.

For pure attack power diamonds are indeed a better choice to go. Personally I prefer main stat gems (for late game, I don't gem for early/mid game) because of the many class passives based on main stats. Also there's some classes with high attack power passives (mainly champions with a maximum of 100%, but dual raiders and cannon bourgs with 65% don't do too bad either) that still get quite a lot of attack power from main stat gems, so overall I find the use of those better. But if it's early to mid game you will probably opt for diamonds.
