I haven't played in WOE yet but I've seen in various threads mentioning about range attacks being a bad idea in WOE. For example a 150/50 bow type ranger with high-end equips against an RK 150/50 built and geared with high-end equips for WOE. How much damage will the ranger deal?
Is the reduction of ranged attacks really that bad in WOE?

depends on the gearing of both. But the reason why people tell you range attack maybe bad because of the reductions on ranged attack with WoE reductions as well as WoE gears reduction(which appiles demi redux+Range Redux with upgrades)

Can you give some values on the damage? What is the largest value of you've seen dealt by a ranger using a ranged attack in WOE?

Depends on individual gearing. I Haven't used a ranger yet for woe but with my experience it should be doing anywhere around 10K w/o mvp card with both sides geared nicely.

is that damage decent enough for WOE if you also factor the advantages of being long ranged?

How do you pot through multiple 10k damage sources being rained on by multiple Rangers though? Mastela Fruit heals what? A little more than 1k HP?
Unless you're chugging yggs the entire time or something.

I'm more curious on how rangers play in WOE, is it not effective for a long range character to be in the back of line and just contribute to the damage dealt by front liners?

i thought about this too but i'm not sure if status arrows work with skills... and what status arrow is useful in WOE.

Back where I played, a Ranger's job in WoE was basically to keep traps up and spread status effects with Arrow Shower (since Arrow Storm isn't spamable enough), plus some situational stuff like detecting hide/cloak and Warg Bite to stop a priority target. Rangers usually have high ASPD, combine with Warg Strike that makes them great at hitlocking single targets (with the advantage of being 10+ cells away).
IMHO you're better off contributing with crowd control than with damage.

Green Potion cures that. Many people will have them anyways to cure all the chaos panics there are around.

In the pre-renewal days I'd play Sniper in WoE and use a double mute double curse bow and spread status alignments using Arrow Shower and/or Focused Arrow Strike. But in Renewal you can pretty much get immunity to majority of alignments thanks to the increased stat points right? So that probably kills that strategy.

Silence and curse are still good, even if they have holy water/green potions, you're still disrupting them.
As a plus, you now have traps that cause Freezing and Burning status.

lol. from experience...there's a few very well geared rangers out there that can one shot 20k+ hp using full reducts.

if u dont have MVP cards for woe your best option is a AGI ranger using auto-warg and status arrows, or trap ranger with Combat knife+ full woe set and using warg atacks manually

Ranked slim pots with high VIT heals around 5k maybe more. With WoE Plate and regen potion that boosts it up, and then there is also WoE white potions which heal a flat 10% of HP. (Then there is seeds and berries as well)
As for people on sacrifice from a RG, ranged is greatly reduced if Defending aura is active (80%).
Although what rangers do help with, is burst damage. If doing anywhere from low amounts up to 10k on a single AS, combined with other damage being dealt it can be the difference from killing an enemy or not.
http://youtu.be/QQ8bEiUJhKw?t=38s
Here you can see that the AS from the rangers helps with DPS, and a lot of the time is what actually got the last hit on the enemy. (For that 30 second section or so in Valf 2) So if the damage is 1k or 10k, it is helpful in the burst damage and also it can reach offscreen and hit a huge group of people.

If you are just wearing a cheap WW (assuming it's a PvM set..+7/8/9 WW set without EA& FS enchant) and with +9 Elven bow
sorry...your damage would be below 5k in WoE
i didnt wear WoE gears...purely MvP tanking gears...just a 10% demi-human reduction from hat

People can pot through gfist, you can't assume you can really kill them in siege with an archer class. Break out the skills that delay and annoy.
