Guys I'm overall new to this game, and even more new to BMs. I've been playing with mine for around 5 days and he's currently lvl 30.

I read A LOT about them in the forums, even gathered information to make it the best way possible, and just when I was feeling confy with my cool bear, everything I knew was flushed with this update.

Eventhough BMs were one of the few classes who got busted by the update, a lot of things changed, now I'm completely lost about everything, stats and skills wise.

Now bear form is gone, the effect its still there but now we remain in human form, this make the class a bit cooler since a lot of people was trying to find a way to not being always a bear. Also with the huge damage boost (I can one-hit regular mobs with a 4k crit brutal strike at lvl 30-.-) having the actual capability of being DPS is now a reality, IMO. I was partying in Sea God temple, and while a same lvl ranger had a threat of 50k, I had a threat of 160k in grizzly form, if we divide that threat by 3, we were almost dealing the same DPS.

I also noticed that the animations in bear form (human looking) are a bit faster, does this make the class a bit better for pvp?

The tankiness was boosted too, now we have more powerful self heals and party heals, also party buffs.

So, in a few words, what do you Bm experienced guys think?, what are the new ways of building bears?, is it viable to make an hybrid that can kill fast as a human and can OT or MT as a grizzly? What skills build do you suggest?

PS: Maybe is a little bug, but I'm taking the same damage in human form and grizzly form, when grizzly is supposed to have 50% defense, is it happening to you too?

with the dmg increase, and fury strike and brutal strike being aoes now, BM is perfect now to OT or MT or dps as he wish

though with the increase on skill points you can put in skills now is hard to make a decent hybrid build so you gotta decide between tank ord dps (though i dont know if is posible to do a decent hybrid with the extra 20 skill points you can buy in morroc, probably but im too lazy to calculate one now xD)

the dmg resistance from grizzly and human is not very noticable because BM now get most of his def from vit (the only class that get def rate from vit now) so grizzly form def rate got nerfed to balance with it. instead of 50% (the tooltip is wrong now, roguard as the right formula) the def rate grizzly form is only 30% of "your current" def rate.

putting my own BM as reference. im full chaos geared and in human form i have 50% def rate, when i turn grizzly i have 65% def rate (30% of 50%). i actually been able to tank even as human dps form  by simply keeping my threat above everyone else. wich isnt as hard now if you are well geared, and using cruel bite

so BM went from the tank with the lowest def to the one with the higest def rate now, even able to tank without a healer because a fully ranked cruel bite heals you for 30% of your max hp

with vit giving you def now, and the skills allready hiting harder, the ideal would be vit/agi for hp/def hit rate and crit rate. though i made the calculation and at rank S (though that is still a long way to come) you will have enough stats points to reach 3 stats to 90 (the new stats cap) and a fourth one to 47.

im atm using my normal str/vit build from pre AoV and puting all stats point currently to vit justcause i like having a big hp pool xD (32k hp ub in grizzly form atm)

nice, i seen a bear yesterday with almost 34k(had roughly 33,800-33,900). i like the idea of vit/agi. was wondering what the new cap was. hopefully they fix the master exp soon. really enjoying my beastmaster. took me 2 hours to go from lvl 1-25 as an archer(OP MULTISHOT) and im atm lvl 43(28 hours gameplay so far). useful information, thanks a bunch for it.  :)

careful with the cap, as far as I know the 70% defense cap still exists, so if you're over 70% defense, extra vit would be a waste

Wow, I thought my post was going to die with 0 replies, thanks a lot guys :D.

So, do you suggest that I reset my stats to Vit/Agi?, it makes a lot of sense now, with such OP skills, I don't think a few points less of str are going to make much difference, but do you suggest to do it at low levels? (30-40)

The skills still makes me very confused, for example, cruel bite, we used to leave that at lvl1, now its almost a must to take it to lvl 10 for the 30% heal.

So, when you're not lazy, a little bit of guidance with the skills would be very very appreciated :)

i think you have plenty of str while leveling through gear and cards. i would do the agi/vit as that is what i swapped to myself. it is working great.for skills i think you should leave cruel bite at lvl 1 and put the points into grizzly & bear form, brutal strike, and wild crush. your gona have a lot of skills maxed as you approach 50. use a reset scroll when you hit 50 and get your master rank. some of the skills will now x/10 so you can put some points into them. also you get get a transformation(3 points) and a skill(another 3 points). that skill lets you summon Bear Grils for 30s(5 min cooldown) at r3.

the thing with maxing cruel bite now isnt just for the 30% heal, is because is your only bp consuming skill after brutal strike and strongest when both brutal and fury strike are on cd, besides if you have boundary or predator buffs it has a chance to reset brutal strike cd and stun enemies.

i found this rotation quite afective to me:

fury strike>wild crush> rage smash. repeat till 100 bps

buff on: brutal strike> rage smash\fury strike\wild crush back to 100 bps.

and from this point. while buff keeps working: fury strike/wild crush/rage smash( wichever of the 3 as cd allows it, preferably in that order)>cruel bite>rage\wild\fury>cruel bite>brutal strike

in other words. when boundary\predator kicks on; rotate between fury strike/wild crush(rage smash if both are on cd)and cruel bite, keeping always 50bps saved for when brutal strike gets out of cd or if cruel bite resets it

as a side note, i dont know if us just me but i have noticed that when i use a brutal strike reseted by cruel bite, it consumes every bp i have left and almost always crit

yeah, im not even gona bother with it or ymir's child. i put all my points into my dps skills and left Bear Form at rank 1. upped grizzly form to rank 5 as that is what i am having to stay in anyways.

eventually when they fix the master level experience and lower the cost of skill points((please)). i will work on my dps form. i still have my 2 scrolls i got from lvl 35 leveling gift so if something changes after the 2nd im good to go.  :)
