Lif mental charge not using matk for damage [Bug]

Took me practically 3 weeks to level and then Loyal -> Evolve -> Loyal again to get Mental Charge skill on my Lif, but the skill is not correctly using the Matk for attacking, it's still doing the same damage using physical atk.

 

Please fix, this bug is brutally painful.

I hope you didn't get the skill with the assumption that it would work as you've described, because this issue has been known for years. You could've easily found out about it by reading the irowiki article or the countless posts about it on this forum.

 

But yes, they should either return this skill to its former glory or give it a different kind of bonus/duration/cooldown/etc. And while they're at it, they might want to reevaluate some of Lif's other skills, like Urgent Escape. The skill becomes pretty useless once you get Cart Boost.

 

To be honest, don't expect this skill to be fixed anytime soon (if ever). In my experience, the CMs/GMs rarely bother to reply to bug reports (at least on the forums), in which case there's no way of knowing if they've passed it on to the development team. Furthermore, the development team seems to focus more on releasing new content (in some cases, requiring very little programming work) than resolving long-standing bugs. And seeing how this skill and other homunculus skills have remained untouched since the renewal update, it is better to keep your expectations low.

 

It feels as if the game is being maintained by a skeleton crew of programmers, barely keeping this game alive. Of course this is based on speculation, but that's how it feels to most players accustomed to the very slow progress of resolving even the largest gameplay disrupting bugs (Quest timer bug, Blind status effect bug, etc.).

 

In conclusion, if the brokenness of this skill is a deal breaker for you, you might want to choose a different homunculus.

I came from private servers (The skill worked fine there even with 3rd job classes Creator etc), and quit to play RO2 2 on Steam, I saw Ragnarok Online 1 on steam in November 2013 and decided hey, why not finally play the official game while linked to my steam account so my friends know what's up. I also hoped that the official servers have a better community than previous private servers. (all I see now in field/dungeon maps are bots and bot healers that tag behind them always 3 cells perfectly, perfectly sit and stand up to buff to sit again, stand up and follow said dps bot and sit while they farm) a lot of bot rogues in easier maps that don't require healers, always using mug on a monster, then attacking after successful mug (zeny stealing). bot thiefs at lower levels that use steal before killing monsters always (they all have the same default hairstyle and without headgear) There are so many bots, i can't believe the amount i see, it's sickening, i feel like vomiting. 

So yes, I was expecting the official server to have things working properly. This is such a major disappointment, you have no idea.
 
Community Members/ Game Masters cannot do much about this bug, it's something in the software/code that needs to be fixed by the devs/programmers. 
 
I think I may quit this game soon. Seems like they do not plan to resolve game mechanics issues like "Ultimate" skills (it even has a 20 minute cooldown) that do not work as intended. If I decide to play Ragnarok Online again, I may just go donate money to private servers since the skills were working properly in my previous experience, I just wanted to go legit official this time,-_- me right? Wasted time and effort.

 

Sorry for ranting, but I am hugely disappointed in the state of the official server of my most beloved game since 2003 open beta iRO

Lif mental charge has been broken on all officials servers since renewal. Either that, or they decided to change the matk for damage mechanic and didn't tell anyone. Not sure which. 

 

Maybe if you and everyone else had been playing the official servers, instead of illegal pservers, they'd have had the resources to fix issues like this.

Private servers were free when I was in highschool/college, my asian parents didn't allow payments to play games. All games in my younger life were free or played at a friend's house. The free to play is how League of Legends got so big.
