I wasn't playing RO2 during the last big patch (WoE I think), did this happen too? Along with all the madness that comes with a large patch like this. How long did it take for things to smooth out?
I just want to log in lol and nothing is working

Hey guys, I had the same problem too and definitely tried the recommended method as below and had the same results.
But I fiddled around some more and found that if you don't change the file's properties to "read only", you should be able to play again!
you can try find in your RO2 folder
MD5FileList.txt and MD5FileList.txt_Tmp
delet MD5FileList.txt_Tmp
and open MD5FileList.txt with notepad
delet all the text save and close the right klik the MD5FileList.txt properties >>> chek the read only and start the ragnarok2 again
worked again, i managed to patch. But now im getting the error :"failed to initialize the program will be shut down"
Hope this helps!

This made me run the updater until it opened the client. An error window appears. If you click OK the game will shutdown but if you just leave it alone, you can play the game
EDIT: Clicked a character but program closed.
EDIT: I backed-up the MD5 text file. Did what you said. Experienced the errors as above. Copy pasted the original MD5 text file. I can play now
