So I am hearing that the Airship Captain's Hat surpasses a +9 Evil Marching Hat for ranged attacks.  However, I have tested this hat on Ranger (Melee + Arrow Storm), Mech (Arm Cannon), and RG (Vanishing Point).  Each time I compared the numbers, the Evil Marching Hat won out.  It was my assumption that extra +7% Attack(EMH) was greater than the extra +2% Ranged Attack (ACH) if you had a decent amount of Equip+Weapon Attack compared to status attack. 

 

Is their a hidden upgrade bonus that isn't listed on the ACH or something, or am I correct in thinking the +9 EMH is the superior headgear?

7% range vs 5% range & 7% atk...pretty much EMH is superior but is the damage difference worth the +9?

+9 EMH is superior, I ran the numbers a while ago, it is very hard to contrive a situation where this is not the case

 

(interestingly enough, the test case of doing it unarmed to remove damage variation will often favor the ACH, which is probably what gave rise to the rumors of the ACH being better, because +% atk only effects watk+eatk, which will be very low without a weapon.

Does it means that the EMH is superior only when the weapon have high EA (e.g 30%)?

I have the +9 EMH, but my higher upgraded HF (unenchanted) is doing much lower damage than my regular upgraded 3x AS RTE..

Unenchanted HFs suck hard xD

You gotta think about the atk x range

Like 10% range on HF is more than double RTE in terms of multiplying atk
