Patch Notes 2/5

*Subject to change. Additional notes may be added closer to patch date.

 

1. Event

 

   A. Valentine's Day Event (Feb 5- Mar 5)

   B. The Event NPC will be located in the middle of Prontera.

   C. You have to collect Cacao from monster drops or the event quests, or purchase the Valentine Chocolate Box for 10 Kafra Points . 

 

       Exchange List at NPC:

       Exchange 10 Cacaos for 1 Chocolate

       Exchange 10 Chocolates for 1 Chocolate Cream

       Exchange 10 Chocolate Creams for 1 Chocolate Cake

 

   D. You can use Chocolate Cakes to purchase items from NPC. 

 

       Khara-Chocolatier: 100 Chocolate Cakes

       Khara- Biscotti: 10 Chocolate Cakes

       Khara- Truffle: 10 Chocolate Cakes

       Khara- Palet'dor: 10 Chocolate Cakes

       Khara- Couveture: 10 Chocolate Cakes

       Blue Spinel: 8 Chocolate Cakes

       Valentine RO1 Costume Box: 10 Chocolate Cakes

       Master Battle Manual Order: 12 Chocolate Cakes

       Blessing Powder: 12 Chocolate Cakes

       Lucky Powder: 12 Chocolate Cakes

       Infinium: 12 Chocolate Cakes

   E. Cacao Drops

       

       - Chocolate can be harvested from "bonbon au chocolat" trees placed throughout the WoE map, dropping 3-15 Chocolates each harvest.

       - Drop rate for Cacao has been increased (2/5 morning maintenance update)

       - Reduced harvesting time for bonbon au chocolat trees in half (2/5 morning maintenance update)

       - Player can receive 1-10 Cacao from harvesting (2/5 morning maintenance update)

       - bonbon au chocolate trees on WoE map can drop 3-15 Chocolate randomly from harvesting (2/5 morning maintenance update)

 

   F. The Valentine Chocolate Box that will be sold in the Kafra Shop will have a random chance of dropping the following:

       

       1, 3, or 5 Chocolates

       1, 3, or 5 Chocolate Creams

       1, 3, 5, or 10 Chocolate Cakes

 

   G. The Valentine RO1 Costume Box will have a random chance of dropping the following:

       

        RO1 Bard Style (male) 14 days

        RO1 Bard Style (male) 30 days

        RO1 Bard Style (male) Permanent

        RO1 Dancer Style (female) 14 days

        RO1 Dancer Style (female) 30 days

        RO1 Dancer Style (female) Permanent

2. Phantom Pyramid

 

   A. 7F 'Romeo & Juliet Cape' will be replaced with 'Somebody's Shell'

   B. You can exchange 10 Chance Coupons for a 'Duck Beak' at Munil's Exchange

   C. New Set- "Unknown Creature Set": wearing the two items above will give +2% Acceleration, Vitality Rate and Critical Hit Rate

 

 

3. Bug Fixes and Other Notes

 

   A. Ranger skill "Arrow Shower" animation has been changed.

   B. Appearance of "Kafra's Forgotten Bag" with Noel class has been fixed. 

   C. Appearance of "Ali Baba" with female characters have been fixed.

 

4. Equipment Update

  • New Rune hole for Menace Gears

5. Harvesting update

  • Pillarnium (Master level Ore) will have spawn times decreased
  • Low Grade spawn time reduced from 20~50min to 20~ 40min
  • Mid Grade spawn time reduced from 20~60min to 20~40min
  • - Quantity on field increased from 20 to 35
  • High Grade spawn time reduced from 1~2 hours to 20~40min
  • - Quantity on field increased from 10 to 35

 

6. Master Battle Order increased effect time from 30min to 24hour (*This is the manual from the Valentine's title NPC, Pestin)

 

7. Basic Color of Osiris costume and accessory changes from left to right (you can still dye it)

Soooo will the event items drop from mobs this time or is it another pay to win title? You guys never acknowledged having to basically buy the Miracle title last event.

Prolly farming in Dayr will give you doubles cause of Droprate increase xD

Well, hopefully some more fixes will go in.. I imagine this is supposed to get us excited for the Valentine's event..

 

I just REALLY hope you guys have learned from last time and..

 

1) Make the cacao drop REASONABLE (and actually work)

2) Hopefully this comes with daily quests as well (think Winter Nights style)

3) Make sure all items are tradeable

 

I loved Winter Nights. It gave us a lot of options to earn the items, then it was pretty easy to get some cute costumes (and oh so many spinels/food).. it was probably the best event of all of them. Would love to see another event like it~

Yes, the drop rates had better be reasonable and not a "Farm 1,000 monsters in one hour to potentially get 10 of the Cacao items." In the case of this past extra Khara title event? They never dropped once. Please make sure they are dropping at the least.

Remember too, gravity loves sharing events well in advance, but bug fixes the day before/of/surprise-secret. If they have bug fixes for next maint, you almost certainly won't hear of it on the Friday.

Interesting that the devs couldn't get Jawaii ready for this event.

Gravity still has 14 days tho.

-> I would like to make a suggestion if the event items won't drop by monster again: Make a compensation of 5 Chocolate Cakes for everyone for free each day the event items don't getting dropped.

-> In case event items don't get dropped by monster at all: Feb 5 - Mar 5 -> 28 days -> 140 Chocolate cake -> Can pick at least the top title and some items

Yes, the drop rates had better be reasonable and not a "Farm 1,000 monsters in one hour to potentially get 10 of the Cacao items." In the case of this past extra Khara title event? They never dropped once. Please make sure they are dropping at the least.

Fun stuff, currently the game is all about grinding (well, most of it) and killing 1k monsters is something that actually happens in one or 2 hours of grinding... depending on your party size and efficiency.

 

Problem is that currently looting (mainly insta looting with shift) is causing crashes, so many of us are forced to loot by passing through that annoying window which robs us of 1 or 2 precius seconds for every kill...

 

Now consider the amount of monsters your party kills... lets be truthful (and a bit bitter), most parties don't even bother looting :/

 

I know the

is still in play until 2/5, altho never a lot of changes. I just hope the Looting bug gets fixed for this event because that would really would be handy and helpful.

Well, most important thing first:

 

Zanbee, I really appreciate that you started to post patch notes more than a few hours in advance. No important bug fixes mentioned right now, so it wasn't hard to do.... but still a major improvement !

 

See, I wish you could mention such things like "what is armor penetration" and what you plan to do with that. You could analyse the player response BEFORE you implemented it. So no angry responses once it's in the game. You could still ignore the players like you did with the shake toggle. But this would stop the "surprise box" development style.

 

What about the known issues?

SP consumption

Fair trade off for the massive MP boost for parties. But I still agree to set all SP costs to zero. Who cares if you don't need SP pots right now? At least it assures that every class has more equal chances to grind and that there won't be any comments about SP consumption ^_^

(I wonder if there would be any comments about when it is re-implemented)

 

Disassembly rates

Keeps refinements a bit at bay (you get Polinium from daily quests, Pandora boxes, etc.). Due to the fast level-up (they removed most of the quests), there is no real need for radiant crystals, etc. Runehole punchers or runes would add nearly no additional value to your gear.... the game is already too easy right now.

But it shouldn't be too hard to implement a higher success chance. Maybe done within a man-hour or less. So there is still hope.

 

Screen-Shake Toggle

Hopefully fixed along with the "Global Notification" toggle. BTW: Torchlight doesn't have a toggle either... but it's more an action RPG.

 

Refinement rates

I still can see a lot of "Player XXX has achieved refinement 18->20", so it doesn't seem too hard. When I made a suggestion two weeks ago, I was critizied heavily. With this patch, you can get Infinium, Blessing powder via valentine's day event. This should make it even easier.

 

BTW: You can create 20 new accounts and do the daily attendance check with them. After 4 days, you have 40 Lucky Powder. You can't trade the powder itself, but you can trade the items you want to refine. So happy cheating for everyone who thinks that the refinement level of his gear is a major issue in the game.

 

High Grade Pillarnium Nodes Quantity

Well, and I thought WarpPortal GMs were paid for running around and stop botting ^_^.

 

An easy fix would be to change the reward for dayr daily quests into High Grade Pillarnium and to reduce the Pillarnium drop rate to zero. Implemented within 2 hours. Even easier: Make it an item buyable for Mastery Points. Botting might still safe you grinding time in this way, but at least all players would have access. Implementation time = approx. 1 hour.

 

TIP: Maybe we should start a development donation system. Players start a request ticket.... and the developers rate the ticket with an implementation value. If enough players donate to such a ticket, the ticket will be implemented. No drawback for WarpPortal / Gravity and players will get the "right fixes" first. ^_^ (I won't donate for disassemble rate however)
 

I also want tp add a minor "bug":

  • Limit Divine Protection to Master Level 1

I wrote that it would have been easier to implement a "no loss" solution than a "take a pill" daily reward stupidness, but noone listened. So, since we have the pill right now....... I've seen a level 14 character using such a pill. Maybe he didn't know what "Mastery Point loss" means. A level requirement would help. Another way would be to remove it and add it as a reward for a daily quest or make it a MP-item.

Please don't call it Vitality rate, if there is a stat called this way. This reminded me of another suggestion, I didn't manage to post on the forum while I still played the game:

 

Vitality - the stat - should grant a percentual HP increase

(f.e. 0.1% or 0.2% per statpoint)

Since you still get a "free" HP boost with every level-up. vitality would be a level-dependant stat with this change, would never be too valuable early on and will never be obsolete on higher levels.

 

Of course you have to balance the monsters damage accordingly. You want implement a demand for a better gear that grants a higher % bonus.

 

In order to balance the VIT boni on gear with the current game status, simply calculate the actual gear bonus (f.e. 100 VIT = 1500 HP). Then take the min-level for the gear and calculate the appropriate base HP a character would have on that level (f.e 8k without gear). Then you can change the VIT bonus until it matches the "old" HP bonus (8k HP and +1500HP through gear => with 0.2% per VIT => give 94 VIT bonus).

 

F.e. my beastmaster had about 800 VIT and about 20k HP iirc. Since 800 VIT would give a 80-160% HP boost with the system suggested, the "naked" HP value should be between 7.7k and 11k. I guess this would be much, much lower right now... so you would have another benefit for achieving a new master level => just grant up to 400 free HP.

 

BTW: In this way, skills like a Grizzly Form for the Beastmaster don't have to be limited on HP, but could actually grant either a fixed or a percentual bonus on VIT instead, since this would result in the same % HP boost in the end (f.e. Grizzly Form: +300-600 VIT = 60% HP as today).

 

Just kidding idea: Implement a RO2 Old-Assassin style costume. Would be fun to have the devil back ^_^

I didn't, since I stopped playing the game a while ago. Just because some of my friends still play the game, I am informed about the current state of the game.

I would be glad if tWarpPortal would chase down cheaters, botters, etc. But they rarely did and most likely never will. The return-of-invest is just not balanced.

 

I knew a lot of players who abused the Coloseum trade bug and I can assure you that they didn't get banned.

 

You can easily determine who looped Maya, who abused Embus, etc. but who cares.

 

Did they remove the Phantom Stone from the hourly reward, just because you could bot those boxes with several chars? Did they encrypt their TCP packets just because you could use a transparent proxy to alter them?

 

You see, if you have the criminal intent, there are several ways...

 

BTW: My suggestion for the refinement system was:

 

Level 1: 100% success

Level 2: 95% success

Level 3: 90% success

.... and so on.

 

At the same time, WP should remove the "items break" option/chance and rather keep on with the -1 level option.

 

So basically, anyone who doesn't use something to increase the chances or would somehow alter the "-1 level" into a "stays at the same level" option. would most likely stick around the 50:50 chance. So there would be enough room for kafra items, but they won't be a necessity.

 

And this is what I got critizied for.

 

So if you rather have a "only refine if you have infinium" game-style and like to complain about the refinement chances, RO2 is the right game for you.

Are you saying its not a smart investment to police, add preventable measures to their game? RO2 doesnt exactly have a booming population so eventually all this bad rep will ruin them.
