I saw that I accidentally posted this in the Class discussion in stead of the Muse forum.

Hello there,

So I thought I'd check out how everything is going here and thought ah! let me gear up some characters and see what I can do.

I find myself being to-ta-lly confused. I checked the Cleric guides and all that, and that teaches me some stuff, however I checked out my IM skills and the IM shop and well... I am not sure if I get everything anymore.

Please see the questions below apart from one another!

If I understand correctly, there are now these types of buffs;

Ally buffs

Your own Cleric Job regular ALLY buffs - 900 seconds

Party buffs

Your own Cleric Job regular PARTY buffs - 900 seconds

IM 'improved' "RITUAL TOMES" - 500pts per skill (6x500=3000pts?)

Cleric PARTY buffs - 900 seconds - 2 buffs in 1

IM 'improved' "ADVANCED" - 250pts per skill (12x250=3000pts?)

Cleric PARTY buffs -  1800 seconds

Is this right? The ritual tomes require you to only press 6 buttons in stead of 12 (wow), where as the other advanced buffs give you double the duration?

Then would that mean that the RITUAL TOMES are more useful for PVP buffing since everyone dies a few times,

and that ADVANCED buffs are more useful for PVM buffing because you have to buff only once per 30 minutes?

---------------

And what's the deal with Soul Revive (Support), Soul Restore and another Soul Recall Tome? Why 2 more IM skills for this? Are they even different?

---------------

Is it also true that I do need all the JOB regular buffs + party buffs to level 5, before I can use the IM buffs that I have at all?

---------------

Say I would leave the JOB party buff skills, and use the SP to improve my Defense, Block Rate, MP recovery, MP consumption and others and also have a Mana Flame, does all that make up for the amount of MP I would need to buff 6 people in a row for example? Since I would have to buff everyone one by one.

I know this is not handy if I am in a party, but I want to be able to take a hit as well.

---------------

Does being full support, having all buffs (allied and party) and all heals (allied and party), eliminate all the chances I would have to also deal some damage?
I see there has been a change in the amount of skills as well, so I can't get most skills to increase my wands range, damage, accuracy or fire speed.

---------------

I don't know what I want to do with this one cleric, I think if I want to do everything the easiest would be to just gear up one full PARTY support cleric, one Hybrid - without party buffs, and one full attack. Maybe even a dex dodge cleric. Even though I have many clerics, I just really enjoy playing one character. And in case of the cleric, be able to buff but also take a hit and being able to deal some damage.

Any help, answer, advice will be much appreciated!

You just answered your own question, and btw, Advanced and Ritual Tomes doesn't require any SP so you can get both if you want (that is if you want to spend money on it)

---------------

And what's the deal with Soul Revive (Support), Soul Restore and another Soul Recall Tome? Why 2 more IM skills for this? Are they even different?

Almost all are the same, maybe minor difference on MP Cast cost and Experience Point recovery but thats about it. I suggest getting Soul Restore since it doesn't require any SP. So you can save that 1-10 Sp from getting Soul Revive and Soul Recall.

---------------

Is it also true that I do need all the JOB regular buffs + party buffs to level 5, before I can use the IM buffs that I have at all?

Yes, but again, the IM buffs doesn't require any SP. You can choose to just ignore the Party buffs but that would be really difficult in wars. So it is a must to get it.

---------------

If you leave party buffs i think it would be enough to get the Off hand passives and some MP recovery passives. But i dont play FS though (only Battle cleric) so i haven't really tested it. But I'm quite sure its possible for you to get Party buffs and Offhand passives which are important. Also dont forget INT buff, INT adds Def. I notice some clerics not getting it. Which is weird.

---------------

Does being full support, having all buffs (allied and party) and all heals (allied and party), eliminate all the chances I would have to also deal some damage? You can probably do some damage with a (15) wand, but dont expect the damage to be as close to a Battle cleric's damage. Since almost every class have low mdef anyway.
I see there has been a change in the amount of skills as well, so I can't get most skills to increase my wands range, damage, accuracy or fire speed.

They don't want clerics to be over powered like before, so its either you go FS , BC or hybrid (which is kinda crappy imo)

That was a long one. I probably didn't answer your questions as detailed as I can cause i don't want to cause any confusion but i hope i made sense and made it understandable ;p . If you have any further questions and clarifications maybe we can chat In game(?) or just post a reply below.

Thanks, I am glad you kept it quite short and to the point. I myself tend to over explain things sometimes and that's where it gets confusing! Haha.

As a battle cleric, do you use any buffs? No party buffs of course, but do you have the other buffs for yourself?

Mental focus and mana shield in the common tab (although I'm not sure if they can be counted as buffs in the first place).

Since skill update is coming (this Thursday). I already did an advance set up on my skill build, and like what Jeremy said. I got Mana Shield and Mental Focus. On the live server, No i didn't get any buffs. Buffs is (obviously) useless without high charm and i have another FS cleric to buff me anyway. Although i did get heals, up to Integrity, which is kinda useful for some support in terms of wars. But since they nerfed heals on the skill update i found mana shield much more useful in terms of surviving .___. soo yee.
