I don't understand how I can have fps lag in a game like ragnarok . My pc is old but with it specs it should be able to run Ragnarok...
Does anyone have an explanation for this??
Thanks in advance

If you are on Windows 8, and in full screen mode, please turn off full screen mode. Many people experience severe performance and stability issues in full screen on Win8.
Use /aura to simplify the auras. For some reason, handling huge numbers of auras (like in Eden group) will lag even really beefy systems. Simplified aura is much better.
If the lag only starts after RO is running for a while, and you're using a laptop, it's probably overheating - clean the air vents and fan.

What version of windows are you on, and is the game in full screen mode?

Adding ragnarok folder to antivirus exception did help. But I still lag in crowded places like the eden group. But I no longer lag in "regular" places.
I have windows vista and I'm running in windowed mode.

Eden group lags normally cuz of all the players, so looks like you're good now:)Adding ragnarok folder to antivirus exception did help. But I still lag in crowded places like the eden group. But I no longer lag in "regular" places.

Well I'll be damned.
I've never heard of AV realtime scanning causing issues before.
Have you done /aura? Eden group lags horribly no matter what if you don't have simplified auras turned on (type /aura in chat window).

Even with an overspecced PC, the game lags inside Eden Group and South Prontera. You are good to go if you are only lagging inside Eden Group.

It usually does...at least for me (it happened to me while playing Team Fortress 2. don't remember about previous ROs.)Well I'll be damned.

The /aura also helped. But the big problem that I still have is that I can't level anymore in TI's... I lag way too much...

Is it FPS lag, or network/server lag?
The TI maps have some server lag on peak times.

Mainly FPS lag

Weird :-/
You can try things like /effect to lower the load, but you shouldn't have to take measures like that unless people are really going crazy spamming skills.
Is it a laptop? Could it be overheating?
How many cores* does your computer have?
Check task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) with RO running, sort by CPU use (descending) - is anything else fighting with RO for CPU time?
*This would be the number of line graphs under "cpu usage history" on performance tab of task manager, assuming that View -> CPU History -> One graph per CPU is selected.
One final bit of black magic (this is not likely to work, but tell me if it does) - Start up several RO clients. See which, if any of them, lags least, use that one and close the rest :-P

I'm already using /effect... :S
Yes I use a laptop and it might be overheating but I don't know exactly, a have a dual-core, and with RO running the only thing that conflicts with CPU usage is if i have chrome on, but I play without checking the internet because with it on it lags even more

Bleh.
Does it lag if you start computer up from being off (and off for a while) and immediately start RO? If so, it's not overheatign (because the lag should only start when it starts to overheat). If it does start lagging after a while, this is strongly suggestive of overheating. Hit the vents with some canned air (aka air duster, etc), alternating between vents until no more dust comes out.
I don't see this bit of shotgun debugging mentioned above - Run setup (in ro folder) as admin, and try every option in the first menu. RO must be restarted when you change this.
Another trick, that probably won't work but is worth a try. Start two clients. Pick whichever one feels faster, and close the other one. Never understood how this works, but I sometimes observe dramatically different performance between two RO clients, despite the fact that I have fewer clients than cores open.
