June 4th
Satan Morroc Quest Map Arrives (moc_fild21)

  • Will require Dandelion's Request to access.
  • Mysterious Man in Morroc next to the Satan Morroc Portal will offer access to this map and a small hunt quest to draw out Satan Morroc (Quest)
  • Defeating Satan Morroc (Quest) will cause an npc to appear where anyone can (1 time only) get a piece of Satan Morroc's Skin for turn in to Mysterious Man for accessories
  • Map Restrictions will be the standard mvp map. No Memo, No monster Summoning, and No Hocus Pocus. Thats it.

Supply Box drop rate increased a further 20% - Feedback in General was that the increase on 5/28/2014 is not enough. If you feel strongly about this either way please post.

  • It should be understood that we are willing to continue these increases more in the coming weeks. If after next week the feedback is it is still to low we are willing to do another increase.

Bio 3 Monsters will get a large increase to their supply box drop rates. This is to reflect their difficulty compared to guild dungeon monsters even if you include the other players actively stabbing your character in the face in the guild dungeons.

Dandelions Request gains an option to skip the Ritual Sequence. Skipping it advances the character to the next step after a short description of the ritual's events.

Speed Potion NPC will now direct sell speed potions.

  • You will still have to chase the npc down. But instead of him saying "Oh only 3 sorriez!" he will vend for 5 minutes as a trader npc. Price will be 20k (15k with discount).

Dragons Event Extended 1 week as we prepare a replacement event to tied in with the Anniversary Event.

No Lucky Box today as we are working on a lot of content updates today. It will arrive next week.

x1.5 EXP added

Umm wait why are we allowing Eske and Ice Wall again? Eske has no use legit use outside of PvP maps / WoE. It has no place on a high-end MVP map.

If I had to guess at the current rate of supply boxes I'd say 5%... So 10% upped it to a whole 5.5%. 20% is going to be 6%... Which still isn't enough. 50% increase, to 7.5%, would be acceptable!

Quest Map is not a MVP Map. The Satan Morroc that spawns here has no drops and is only for the quest.

Eh, better then. Still, it's an easy way to kill something that's supposed to be difficult (more difficult than Wounded Morroc, even).

Changing Speed Potion Supply Up

Currently the speed potion npc only really benefits botters.

What if we made the NPC direct sell the potions at a slightly increased price?

Please change that ASAP

Supply Box drop rate increased a further 20% - Feedback in General was that the increase on 5/28/2014 is not enough. If you feel strongly about this either way please post. This will affect BIO3 drop rates as well

I just did a few HE gums in GD and there is currently no noticable difference. Will 20% on top of this even matter when we're talking about less than 1%?

Your player base come from renewal where this is a lot less of an issue and from pservers where they get can get everything from BG/NPC. Requiring a collective 40+ hours of work for a competitive WoE isn't really a reasonable thing to ask. We're already using much more potions than standard due to the prevalence of nodelay in WoE, we're using more catalyst items because of Autopot in WoE. I understand that it is extremely hard to police these things so please give us the next best thing.

There's also still the matter of accessibility outside of GD. In GD players are gathering up mobs of 8~20 monsters per kill, where as bio 3is 1 by 1 by 1 by 1, take longer, are harder and require a party. Unless the drop rate is actually quite high (I'm talking 80-100% here) there is no way bio will be worth it.

If you continue to keep the majority of supply gain in GD, you are just going to push one or two guilds into a stronger and stronger position with the amount of effort needed to compete with them being ridiculous. It also removes the mechanic of non-WoE players being able to profiteer off WoE players bloodthirstiness. Remember when selling bomb mats was a viable source of income?

I want to murder the players who dare step foot into *MY* Guild Dungeon. That is the point isn't it? But I am deterred because I need to buy the boxes from them. Perhaps I should approach people like it's protection money. Pay me your boxes and my thugs won't kill your wizard. I don't know what is the answer here? Let me kill people.....! Let me let people kill people!

I would like to see a PVP map with high drop rates  of these boxes and reasonably hard monsters - thors, thana, morroc, bio, acidus... that kind of thing. If the returns are reasonable - people WILL hunt there instead of botting or buying. Hell put them in the regular incarnations drops, those things aren't very easy and have a pretty crappy drop table.

I know that WoE performance is supposed to be a reflection on how much you put into the rest of the game, but with bio3 being bad (fix kathy, buff bio please), morroc not really having much value compared to how it should be and everyone playing TKMthors online for 2 or 3 days whilst waiting for the next good spotlight - I think it's time to make either the rest of the game work toward that WoE performance via Kill Counts for supplies (yes people will leech alts, who care? The point here is that guaranteed returns would be more encouraging); or put in more content to make it more fun to do these preparations (and fill the hole BG isn't filling).

WoE is one of ROs most unique drawing points. But WoE players don't interact with the rest of the community (PVM players) because they have no need to. Therefore PVM players/ new players who need to level see a dead server and jump off to renewal.

Help please. Just help. Do SOMETHING. Just get over this hurdle that is the thought that any one WoE guild should require more man hours collectively than a fulltime job.

Here's an idea.

Balance the current Guild Dungeons for boxes/hour. Not sure if that means change the drop rates or continue increasing spawns until people are getting roughly similar numbers. Then every week or two have a "spotlight" where you increase the box drops for one of the four (hell consider making the 2.0 guild dungeons worth doing too maybe) realms by a not insignificant amount 2/3x? Maybe more? This way not only do you get people interested in more than one realm but you focus all the people who want to efficiently use their time (everyone on this server probably) into one realm so there's actual fighting over the dungeon.

My concern is with guilds who take a break/are new/forget to take a castle

We need something outside of GD. srs

I'm not saying any of this to attempt to put down other guilds. I'm basing a lot of this on responses I've been given on the forums and the like.
I'm told my guild is one of the biggest most active on the server, therefore we should have more people to farm the boxes, cutting down the work load. That is true. But like every guild (I'm sure); we have a small percentage of people who work on the supplies and as the guild grows bigger that percentage gap grows bigger too. All the chores are divvied up. We have many people who work fulltime/go to school still who use some of their little but precious time to help out... We also have a couple of basement dwellers covered in cheeto crumbs who will put WoE over any other aspect of the game. And that isn't going to change any time soon.

For other guilds, it doesn't mean it's any more or less stressful. It's unfair in my mind. I have watched guilds die under supply strain turning the server into a wasteland. We need more guilds and supplying them must be easy and fun. If current guilds grow/merge they will need to be able to cater to their new playerbase. Only one person can log on a potter at a time. GD gets slower and slower with each person that goes down there. (spawn issues) Getting "more people" to farm at the same time as eachother can be counter-productive.

When players come to Classic and everyone is in non-global maps like GD, all the newcomers will see is a dead server. Give me one good reason that Dragons couldn't have had a Surplus box reward for turn ins?

People love WoE, make them play the rest of the game and liven up the server!

20% increase is negligible.

Let's see, if the drop rate is 5% right now, then 20% of that is 1. That is making 5% into 6% which is... not even noticeable. The drop rate is likely not even 5%, it's probably more like 3% or so. 20% increase from 3% would make the drop rate 3.6%. That's nothing.

Needs to be at LEAST double. Please. Dear God please.

Please change that ASAP

Added to the Notes!

Actually I've not seen any botters farming the Pickpocket Quest when I was doing the quest myself (maybe they've detected the presence of players and they decided to go poof?  :P ) but I do agree that is a tedious job trying to get Speed Pots in such a manner, you've to open multiple client just to get the best out of the quest.

Anyway, how much will the NPC be selling each Speed Pots for? What is "What if we made the NPC direct sell the potions at a slightly increased price?" and how much is the increase?

I'm actually in favour for a zeny sink regarding this, and also I do not think that WoE goers should get anything that is cheaper than the current market price for the Speeds so as to make them conserve their Speeds as much as possible and only using it when the necessity arises. We're trying to promote strategic warfare here instead of frivolous reliance on supplies, aren't we?

On another note, I've also taught some newbies to help try out the Pickpocket Quest for them to make some zeny (actually I'm trying to "delegate" the job to them and also trying to get some cheaper Speeds from them   and hey, don't stare at my post with that look in your face, don't tell me that you guys have never told them newbies to sell their Empty Bottles to the Bottle Merchant for 400z each and buying them back for 700z instead of paying them the market price of ~1k?), I wonder if any newbies would be affected by my scheme this change? Oh well, looks like they've to try look for their zeny somewhere else now  :hinthint:

Nice job Xellie  I've only saw one suspected bot party so far and they went poof when I approach them, can't do much since I don't have enough proof.

I was thinking if there is another way that we can keep the quest and still benefit the small time Speed farmers? To tell the truth, I'd also like having cheaper Speeds but I do like the servers having some form of zeny sink still.

Well, since the main issue with the quest is the tediousness of running around trying to see where the pickpocket has gone to after being caught in spots A and B.

Can the GMs tweak the quest so that the pickpocket will always spawn in spot A (across the department store) and when caught, he will always flee to spot B (beside the Bank) and when caught, will flee to spot C (by the Hotel) where we can purchase our Speeds from him? Maybe we can raise the price of him selling one bottle of Speeds by 5~10k zeny?

I'm not sure if people'd still rely on botters farming the quest this way but this is the best way I can think of, it removes the randomness of the quest but still retain the repeatitiveness of how supplies are farmed and also retain the small zeny sink.

What does the community think of this suggestion?

When players come to Classic and everyone is in non-global maps like GD, all the newcomers will see is a dead server.

This oh so very much.

Newbies are always asking where the hell everyone is. My responses are:

  • Farming in GD
  • Getting leeched in Thors/ID3
  • Farming in GD
  • Using TI Items to boost their alts for Thors/ID3.
  • Farming in GD
  • Vending/Logged Off

I've never said that they're just out and about leveling, since 99% of the time they're not. All that it would take for vets and WoE participants (the vast, vast majority of the server) to hit the regular maps is making GSBs obtainable outside of GD, and since that's all they log in for outside of WoE (in order to FACILITATE WoE mind you), it would go more good than harm.

It's true that GSB drop list additions to normal monsters, whether directly or via a wearable item a-la that Groove/Lucky Box "replacement" thing Heim proposed and chucked in a while ago are very bot-friendly and you don't want that, there are already bots farming boxes in GD and you don't seem to care about the rampant botting of TI Items, which is essentially the same thing. Having box drops all sequestered in GD or super-high-end content makes the server look empty (or more empty than it is :P).

And the proposed Bio3/MVP GSB drops aren't really good enough. It locks a lot of newer players out of contributing to the WoE effort without joining an established guild (and tipping the power scale or inconveniencing leaders with half-hearted idiots joining just to make some zeny) and frequenting GD still has a better risk/reward ratio (which you need a fort to access anyway).

Anyway, this game is naturally bot-friendly (as are many MMOs), but the measures you're taking to curb the bot population are actually more annoying to real players than to botters.

The boost to GSB drop rate, however slight, is nice though!

That's my flawed 1 cent of opinion.

A few things...

  • Please fix Bio3 Kath spawn. srsly. It's like you want people to just leech in Thors and not actually party at high end dungeons. I'd love a slight increase in exp at other high end dungeons like Juperos and TT to encourage partying as no one goes to those dungeons, though I know you all don't plan on doing that. The AL3 spotlight was excellent once you all worked out the kinks with the turn ins, please consider events and spotlights like this in the future. (Okay, maybe the AL3 TI was borderline too much when combined with bmx3, but at least the spotlight encouraged partying and teamwork. I had so much fun partying, that is one of the things iRO desperately needs more of)
  • Fix the Dandelion quest please, it is bugged. It DC's you near the end after you hear the voices in the Morroc Pub. You can continue the quest afterwards, but the DCing is annoying. Also, the instance portion at the very end appears to bug. I completed it on a few characters, but could not on my final character.
  • Lol @ this "increase" for GSB. Thank you for finally adding other ways of getting GSB, but please consider increasing the rates more. This increase is a joke. I don't know what you all are thinking. This is not a fix. Bio3 monsters are 10x harder to kill than the GD monsters, please do not give them a ridiculously low drop rate for the GSBs. Even the GD drop rates for the boxes are still low. Hell, after your "20% increase," the drop rates are going to be low.
  • Finally, pleaseeeee consider including GH in the geffen spotlight. I have no earthly clue what you all intend to include in this so-called "geffen spotlight" if it isn't going to include GH. my gut is telling me this spotlight is going to be awful. please prove me wrong. :(

It's really not that hard to farm those cooking kits you know, seems like you just have no effort to go out and look for them, buying via npc is just lazy and boring in my opinion.

First, it really sucks to farm them because they are a 1% drop in juperos. It's not that easy to farm a few hundreds of cooking kits. If you want to buy them on the market you have to wait some years till you get one hundred. Farming is more boring if you waste hours just for a few kits.

Second, buying speedpotions from npc is boring and lazy too. What about the GSB? Isn't it lazy to get good exp in GD and get WoE supplies? Why not farming WSS at CT, stems at Mandragoras and karvos at mushrooms? Because it sucks!

Gravity added superb and gourmet kits to improve cooking on classic. It's sad that they stopped the effort and never put these kits back on classic. If I remember right they were in the september sealed box in 2012. However, I dont need superb or gourmet kits but at least an easier way to obtain professional cooking kits.
