Nothing wrong with putting phen in one of those two. It needs to be something accessible to all your characters at a low level. Besides, if you could afford a wham-bam-awesome accessory, you can afford another phen card.

Now, to just figure out what to slot the Phen card into right at this moment. There's no sense in waiting since I'll have to go through everything over again with transcendence.

 

you really don't need to waste a phen card on something like this.

 

Just farm geographer till you are lvl 70 with Storm gust.

buy a Morpheus Set - cost less then a phen card

go to TI, parties always looking for mage/AOE.

 

when you transcend use the morpheus set till you can use the orlean gown.

orlean gown - same price as a phen card.

Basically, I am not so much interested in sage as I am scholar (to support my friends) and sorcerer (to do badass things I've seen a friend do). I still have to go through sage, but those two classes are my goals.
 
Now, my issue is stats. I am not sure about placement, or when I should put points where. Things I've read about sages make my eyes cross in confusion in this regard.
 
Should I just purely invest in Int until 99 and then work on something else, or is there a specific pattern that's good for aspiring scholars and summoners (and reluctant sages)? Would appreciate your being as specific as possible if you offer guidance, since I'm still rather new, as I'd said.

ok so no storm gust but still got AOE. Which again, every party in TI is looking for.

sage aoe is pretty limited; it covers a smaller area and thunderstorm is very slow unless you have a lot of cast reduction gears.  i'd go with fireball (which is targeted so you don't need to worry about crap being knocked all over your screen and getting position bugged) and heaven's drive, which is pretty fast and also knocks mobs out of hiding.

I have Fireball 5 and Heaven's Drive 5. That's it for AoE, unless you sorta count Fire Wall 10. Anyway.

 

The reason I haven't put a Phen into a clip and left it at that is because I've been wearing a Steam ring. Even if the experience benefits have slowed by now, there's still the Heal spell that often does come in handy.

 

Here's tonight's question: I am level 92, and I have nine 3X experience books left. Where should I go, other than TI, to get myself quickly to 99 and transcendence? TI hasn't worked out for me; my guild has been a bit unavailable for parties lately and the entrances are usually insta-death for me because folks aren't waiting there. At least, that was the case with Turtle Dungeon.

stack up bounty board and eden board quests. iirc when i was on my vip the bounty board gave me 2x700k exp (vip can choose to give it all to base so 1,4m for me back then).

doing a bit of shoddy calculation, from 92 to 99, you need ~32m of exp

without vip, bounty board only gives you ~450k exp. that means ~1,3m with bmx3.

if you turn it in along with, let's say, 5 eden board quests, that'll be extra ~500k exp, and ~1,5m with bmx3.

combined, you can net ~3m per bmx3. means you're around ~5m exp short.

criminal activities, brasilis murder quest... there are a few quests that gives million of exp, turning it in one bmx3 will suffice (along with your 9th bount board and eden board run).

and amatsu spotlight gives you a lil bit of cheat, dragon helm quest (lunar new year event) can give you ~1,5m of exp and it's repeatable each day (yup, ~4,5m on bmx3 EACH DAY). try getting a friend to help you kill or tank for you.

My other accessory is an of Yana clip, which speeds up the casting of Cold Bolt. All things being ideal, that is my primary killing spell.

So, the good news: I made it to Scholar!

 

The bad news: I made it to 71/50 High Mage before someone reminded me that I could switch to Scholar at 50, no need for base 99. You'd think I would've remembered that from my Royal Guard. :S

 

I have a lot of catching up to do now in terms of skill points!

 

PS: Jaye rocks. She was kind enough to help me with some problems in-game, going out of her way to do so. Bravo!
