Question about Warriors:

Do Warriors still fill the main tank role properly at the [current] endgame content?

Or are they better off as DPS, or still broken as they are with BT, still fill both roles fully?

Well with the current state of the gears in relation to the mobs, you're pretty much right about tanking itself.

How about the full role itself? As in keeping enemy focus on yourself. Tanking is not limited to not dying. D:

They have this little skill, called provocation that was important for boss mechanics back in the day in raids such as Bapho Hard, where you had to switch aggro between the Main Tank and the Off Tank. They also have a threat multiplier that helps them with aggro, back on the day they were preferred as Off-Tanks due to their excellent  AoE capabilities and because they were kinda squisy among tanks. (My warrior had 46% defense rate on its Chaos set) but now with the broken damage formulas, defense formulas, Refining and Armor GreenSeed runes that means jacksh*t. Everyone can cap defense, everyone can get sustained damage reduction and no boss mechanic needs provocation skills so yeah, they can tank... Just like everyone else.

The old mechanics sound like something really worth adhering to again. D: Thanks for your inputs, guys.

... back on the day they were preferred as Off-Tanks due to their excellent  AoE capabilities and because they were kinda squisy among tanks. (My warrior had 46% defense rate on its Chaos set)

Defense (chaos gear):

Warrior: 1330 // 1729 with Defender
Knight: 1330 // 1962 with Shield

BM: 995 // 1493 with Grizzly Form

Monk: 662 // 1986 with Steel Body // 2317 with SB + Iron Body

Because the defense rates were linear, the 46% defense rate you've stated for the Warrior would have resulted in 40% for the BM, 52% for the Knight and 62% for the Monk.

That means the knight received 25% more damage than a monk, the Warrior 41% more damage and the BM 58% more. In a direct comparison between Knight and Warrior, the latter received 13% more damage on average.

On contrast, the Warrior always had a higher parry and dodge rate in return. The difference in parry with chaos gear alone (no-seeds) was at least 1563 for the Knight vs. 2031 for the Warrior. Using the same conversion as above, it would have been 54% for the Warrior and 42% for the Knight.

So it's fair to say that Warriors were anything but "squishy" (even among tanks).

Right now, Warriors can even reach a 90% defense rate. So yes, they were and still are powerful main-tanks.

First of all, I was talking about the value in your character menu, But yes, there is a cap at 75%. However, most PvE opponents and quite a few players will have armor penetration... and AFAICT, this is substracted from your defense rate before the cap is checked. That means, a defense rate of 90% still saves you from 15% armor penetration.

Does the penetration formula follow the other level-based stat formulas? (ie Crit, Parry, etc.) How much Penetration in % does a Penetration-focused char (Assassins?) usually have?

i would like to ask as well how this penetration works, by the name itself it is somehow ignore defense.. btw here's my questions;

1. Does any knows how to compute damage from penetration.. is it that worthy to spend money on +1 OSI rare + (5pcs)?

2. How about critical damage is it same as penetration? does it also ignore defense?.

3. How about the use of Redblood Seed?,

Thanks,,

i think penetration thing is,let's say :  u get like about 15% penetration, your opponent def is 75%, so it will ignore 15% and your opponent def will be 50% o.o
