Ultimately it's up to Oda or Cinquine to decide.

I'm simply hosting the event and didn't do the write up of the rules.

However, I will enforce the rules. From my understanding of what's written, Cinquine intended the event to end today and to be judged today.

 

I can ask for clarification.

Ultimately, I would want to be as fair as possible to people who have posted already (that may have worked harder because of a perceived time crunch)  as well as people who may have thought they had more time.

Well that's what I thought too, but the rules Cinquie came up with says the winners would be picked today.

That's why we all need a bit more clarification from Oda mostly since he's the one that picks the winners and has final say.

The Friday end date was a bit odd to me in the first place.

Thanks for the replies, Myz. There's not even a time mentioned in your OP, it just says the entries will be picked "On the 24th." Is that 12 AM, 5 PM, or 10 PM? I just assumed we had all day on the 24th. But... does Oda even read this?

I messaged Oda already and he appears to be viewing the thread as we speak.

In the future, I'll make sure things are clarified and not confusing. I'll probably end up posting ending times in multiple times zones so that no one is left in the dark.

This is supposed to be fun and the last thing I want to do is have individuals undermined or frustrated.

 

I do appreciate each and every person who entered and that is interested in these community events.

I made a cake hat. 

 

So this took more time, money, and effort than expected. I can’t sew, so I decided to take an arts and crafts approach. You need an oven to make the paper mache and bake the Sculpey (polymer clay).

 

And here’s a tip: you can’t paint Styrofoam with normal paint. Need to use acrylic. And no hot glue but they have special Styrofoam glue.

Day 1
1. Take the Styrofoam ring and put it on some newspaper. Start painting with the brown paint. Let it dry. When dry, flip over and paint the other side.



2. Scoop out some of the inside of the cake form so it sits on the head correctly. You just need about a ½ inch depth. I used a spoon but it was really messy.


3. Take this cake form and flip it upside down (so the hole is facing up). Paint the top and sides, leaving an inch around the base empty (it’s going to be covered with paper mache anyway). Let dry.


4. To make the dollops of frosting, take white polymer clay and form into a circle coming together at the top, kind of like a poring. Press the bottom on a flat surface to make the base flat so it sits on the ring evenly. Based on the picture, there are 8 per half for a total of 14.

5. To make the candles, I rolled out dime-sized circles in white, blue, purple, and pink. I needed 9 white and 3 each of the other colors. Put 3 white + 3 colored together then roll the entire thing on a flat surface. This smooths out the sides and gives a single candle. You need 3 of these.



6. To make the flames, just make a circle that’s pointed at the top. You need 3.

7. I also made half a strawberry to put on the top. I used the pink clay and shaped it into a strawberry shape. I used a pen to poke holes in it, resembling seeds.


8. Bake all the polymer clay pieces @ 275 degrees for 15 minutes per ¼ inch thickness. I cooked the flames for 15 minutes, the candles and strawberry for 20 minutes, and the frosting dollops for 40 minutes.


9. When cooled, paint the bottom of the yellow candle flames. I used red paint with a toothpick so I could draw the red paint upwards into the flame. I also painted the strawberry red.


11. Put tape around the now-dried cake. Use 3 pieces, spacing them apart so that the non-taped part is about ¾ inch thick and the bottom layer has tape on it. Paint everything between the tape pink. When you take the tape off, there will be straight lines.




12. Put Styrofoam glue around the outside of the bottom of the cake. Attach it to the brown circular base. You’ll probably need to let it set overnight with a weight on it depending on what glue you use.


13. Glue the flames to the candles. I used super glue.

Day 2
14. To make the paper mache for the frosting, use 1 part flour and 5 parts water. I used 3 tablespoons flour + 15 tablespoons water, but that wasn’t enough so I made another batch of ½ cup flour and 2 ½ cups water. Put the water and flour into a pot on the stove and bring to a boil. Let boil for 2 minutes while constantly stirring. It will turn into a thick paste. Put into a bowl.


15. Get printer paper and tear apart into strips. I used about 20 pieces of paper. Put the strips into the paste and start layering the paper on the cake form. Bring the paper down the sides like the picture shows. I added an extra layer where the red strawberry goo is. Let the paper mache dry overnight. (The dollops in the picture aren’t glued on yet. I recommend taking them off before you paint anything).



Day 3
16. When the paper mache is dry, paint it. I painted all of it pink except for the red strawberry part, which I painted afterwards. It’s OK if it’s gloopy, since it’s supposed to be frosting. I added a lot of paint over the parts where the paper obviously overlapped. Let the paint dry overnight.


Day 4
17. Glue the dollops of frosting to the brown base so they’re evenly spaced.

18. I cut up some green plastic to look like the strawberry leaves then glued it to the strawberry. I then glued the strawberry to the top.


19. Glue the candles to the top. Blue on the left, purple in the middle, and pink to the right.

20. Finished! Here it is next to a 12 oz cereal box for reference.

Here's my entry... Gigantic Magestic Goat!~~ omg they are big

So they are made of papel mache idk how is called in english e-e

1.- made the structure with news paper.
2.- cover it with glue diluted in water and place more newspaper :V
3.- wait to dry, then use toilet paper so you can get any form you want
4.- PAINT IT WITH CHROME PAINT
5.- fix some stuff with acrylic paint
6.- glue them to the headband
7.- WEAR THEM IF YOU DARE, hit my head like 5 times lol

One thing that’s always bothered me about the boy’s cap is that in-game it looks like it has a 2 on it, but on the description it shows a badge or something. So I decided to make a real boys cap but add a twist to it… I think this falls under the original headgear category? I call it a Boy's Cat Ear Cap~

I can’t sew a hat, so I bought one off ebay. http://www.ebay.com/...916268437&rt=nc

I forgot I was supposed to be taking pictures until after I had sewn the 2 on. Basically, I drew a “2” on an orange-yellow fabric swatch with a charcoal pencil. I cut it out and then took gold thread and hand-sewed around the 2 so it was stuck to the hat. Here’s a picture of it close-up.



I then made some cat ears out of clay. I used white clay so I could paint it later. They’re basically little triangles. I then cooked the ears for about an hour.



Once they were cool, I painted the outside of them black and the inside pink. I then took some of my white cat’s fur and put it on the top of the ears so they looked realistic. Basically, I just stuck some double sided tape on him and gently pulled it off. I don’t think he even noticed. I’m not a cat abuser :<

I glued the ears onto the top of the hat with super glue.
