You might want to look at all your boots and shoes. I was looking at my Arti shoes and they have a 0. The Joker shoes on my muse say -10.  Looking at the NPC most of the shoes have negatives or 0 speed. I'm guessing that cant be correct?

I did a quick check of the npc's in Junon and on my own characters and there does seem to be an issue. From what I saw, all hawker shoes are fine, from the npc, on my character, and in storage. The muse and soldier shoes are showing negative mspeeds and the dealer and common shoes are showing 0 mspeed

Spoiler

Just for fun I crafted a pair of soldier boots and muse shoes and both have the same negative mspeed thing as the ones in the nps shops.

I think it's now showing the real speed, Genesis mentioned getting them to say the correct amount a while ago.

So, if thats true, then I should be able to wear my soldier boots, and see my mspeed go down.

So, if thats true, then I should be able to wear my soldier boots, and see my mspeed go down.

Just tried equipping muse shoes on my cleric and that's exactly what happened. Her mspeed went from 600 to 590 with the muse shoes ( -10 mspeed).

So then if characters whose footwear either subtracts from mspeed or has mspeed of 0 want to increase mspeed, they will need to use a Mesolite gem in the shoe or in their accessories?  I just want to be sure I'm understanding how this works. I guess I can see some footwear being at 0 since you don't put on shoes irl and instantly become faster lol, but if I was a soldier or muse and my shoes are going to make me even slower, I'd probably just go barefoot :P

It's an old design, the devs back then wanted the dealer and hawker classes to have higher base movement speed than the soldier/muse classes. Makes sense themathically as well, and it's not that big of a difference, so I have no issues with it.

Well I have no issue with the hawker stuff. It also kind of makes sense with muses too since in theory they can speed buff themselves but dealer shoes have 0 mspeed. Maybe the thinking is that since they are the merchants of Rose, they can afford to travel in style and therefore don't need swift shoes. :P

Those values are indeed correct, as Movement Speed on footwear (and backwear) is now displayed as a bonus relative to your base (naked) Movement Speed, rather than some arbitrary value that doesn't mean anything to you as a player.  As jerremy said, it is intended that each class has a different bonus on their equipment, depending on the thematic speed of the class.

Yes, while naked or wearing Visitor footwear, you have 550 Base Movement Speed, and the Base Movement Speed while wearing each class's footwear is:

Soldier: 530 Base Movement Speed (-20 difference)
Muse: 540 Base Movement Speed (-10 difference)
Dealer: 550 Base Movement Speed (0 difference)
Hawker: 575 Base Movement Speed (25 difference)
