Whats with +% heal stuff? Puente Robe adds exactly 5 HP to my level 1 heal regardless of what the base amount of my heal is, and adds exactly 15 at level 5 on my crusader.

Equipping robe makes my numbers go like this (no weapon equipped at all):
High int/Lvl char with Lvl 1 heal: 303 -> 308
Low Int char with lvl 5 heal: 399 -> 414

Seriously, how does this work in renewal?

I split this out of the bug topic - we should figure out if it's really a bug, rather than bizzare yet intended behavior, and figure out where precisely the bug lies, and i think that's best done in a separate thread.

The formula on iW (which may be accurate, or may be a load of carp, as is par for the course right now) is:
([(Base Level+INT) / 5] Ã? 30 ) Ã? (1+(Modifiers/100)) Ã? (Heal Level*0.1) + StatusMATK + EquipMATK - [(WeaponMATK Ã? WeaponLvl) / 10]

This clearly doesn't address the random variation (presumably that end part with weapon matk * weapon level is meant to have a random function involved), but if the formula has a structure like that, it could produce the behavior you observed, the key point being that the modifiers only effect the portion of the heal recovery based on level, int, and skill level - which at level 1 are quite small compared to the other portion.

I think this is what's going on here - i'm not sure if this is intended behavior, though. Is that formula consistent with your heal recovery in game?

I went through the formula from iro wiki, and it seems to be accurate. What is happening, is +% heal stuff does not apply to the status and equipment matk, so on a high-int character like a priest, we're seeing a large chunk of the heal amount not being improved by the +% heal item/card =[. In the case of my Wanderer, 204 out 324 of the heal is from MATK, so my base value is 120, which is all that gets modified by the +5%.

i.e. if an arch bishop has like 250+150 matk or something, 400 of that heal isn't improved by the puente robe. :/

There goes my old habit of putting +% heal stuff on my scholar and such to make that pitiful vitata heal nicer.

I don't see why this is the case. How dumb.

This _IS_ really stupid. It doesn't seem correct to have items stating that they increase heal by a %, when they only increase a (usually small) part of heal by that much. Then again, look at +% weapon cards and half of the other effects in RO...

I knew something odd was going on, switching from my BG Healing Staff to another staff of equal matk, and my heal increased by only 100 or so. I demand that they change that formula and put the Ã? (1+(Modifiers/100)) at the very end, with everything before it in ( ).

Gears need to work the way they describe. When I heal for 1000, I expect an item that says "heal +5%" to make me heal 1050, goddamnit.
