Kindly tone down on the caps. Please and thank you.

As for your question, what do you mean by 'offensive' if not pvp? Do you perhaps mean DPS Knight?

heres a sample build for an offensive knight in pve (boss killing, grinding, farming) only

skills

max aura armor cuz its easier to get into grinding parties as a "tank"

max aura blade for solo farming or if your party already has a tank

max concentration for slightly more damage

max shield charge is a fun gap closer in areas like osiris tomb

lvl 1 shield bash b/c u dont pvp and bosses cant be knocked down

stats

pure int for more damages later game

cards

mummy or requiem

feel free to criticize or shoot down my build cuz even though im a knight, i dont play as a knight

Aura blade add 10% pattack, damage is pattak/15+ weapon so 10%/15= 0.66% and since the weapon is more or less galf the damage the overall increase of damage is around 0.33%. Unless they ninja fixed it recently.
Concentration works in the same way :P

I am sorry Shinyusuke, but this isn't true.

Just imagine your damage would consist solely out of ATK (good old days). Than it doesn't matter if the ATK value gets scaled down or not... +10% more ATK always means 10% more total damage.

At the moment, the only reason why a 10% bonus might result in a decreased overall bonus is because the weapon damage is excluded. So only the proportion between the affected part and the unaffected one matters.

That means that if the weapon damage (unaffected part) makes up for half of the total damage, the original 10% only results in a bonus that's half as high. Of course, it matters whether if your ATK is divided by 15 or by 10, because the result would alter the proportion but you can't divide the 10% bonus by that number.

An example with your formula:

total_damage = PATK / 15 + weapon_avg

If you have and PATK of 30k and an average weapon damage of 2000, your total damage is:

total_damage = 30,000 / 15 + 2000 = 2000 + 2000 = 4000

Now if you increase the PATK by 10% (=>33k), the result would be 4,200 instead... So it's an increase of 5%.

And according to this thread, the devs modified the damage calculation formula and the ATK gets scaled down by ~10. (ATK * 0.095) not 15.

AFAIK that's still accurate and the reason why I use that number all the time (just in case Vau or Suncor question that number again).

Tl;dr:

A 10% attack bonus from Aura Sword doesn't result in 10% more damage, but the 0,33% isn't true either.

Ergo, using Ymir or other skills might still create a noticable damage increase, but don't expect the percentages seen on the skill.

I did some testing yesterday with my Warrior on Fabres in West Mjollnir with Bash 5/5 (250%) using the formula (Atkp/15.53 + wpnmin + refinement bonus)*250% and then added the penetration and found a little discrepancy between my numbers and the theoretical ones. They were a bit higher than expected. Now using the Atkp*0.095 they hit perfectly right! The formula seems to be still accurate today.

The average damage bonus for Aura Sword [5] is about 2.3%. I don't have the formula/calculation on hand but that's what it was determined when AOV formulas were being analyzed.

I meant Additional damage from the power rune and cards, not penetration.

Hi Arbalist. It can't be a fix value!

As I wrote... the benefit is dependant of the proportion beteen weapon damage and the result of(ATK*0.095).

To achieve a 2.3% outcome, the weapon damage has to be about 3.34 times as high as the (ATK*0.095) part ((10/2.3)-1).

That of course means that the ATK has to be rougly 3.144 times as high as the weapon damage.

Easy to test for all Warriors out there.

The given fact above however makes it obvious why magical classes get a higher benefit out of Ymir Form than other classes. They have a lower weapon damage, but a significantly higher MATK => Different proportion, different outcome.

Edit: calculation mistake

I definitely miss that thread update you are right so the real bonus for aura blade is more or less 5% on the final damage, but this doesn't change the fact that this skill is completely useless. It can be used only if you build a grind caracter and you max grandcross (that has bonuses if used whit AB) but this would means max them both and lost a total of 10 skill points.

Hmm, sure yeah that probably makes sense. I didn't do the test myself, I just memorized the results. I guess it'd be slightly useful to create a chart showing how much attack would be needed for each common tier of gears to actually reach a 10% damage bonus.

EDIT: Well stat calculator has been made public, now you can test if Aura Sword is worth it on your own :) http://forums.warppo...c/#entry1983962
