The Ralis Conundrum

 

Welcome to the Ralis Conundrum!

 

Every Wednesday, at some varying point of the day, I'll be posting some sort of weekly challenge for you to figure out. Each week brings a new puzzle: it may be a math problem, a riddle or something else entirely. Whatever it may be, you'll have to use a little (or a lot of) brain power to figure it out. These puzzles may require knowledge outside of Ragnarok! Anyone is capable of finding the answer, but I cannot guarantee you will always know what to do if you have little to no understanding of Ragnarok, computers, math, science, etc.

 

The competition is open to both servers! Chaos Renewal and Classic Loki players may both enter their answers. It may help you to know, then, that the answer to each challenge will be something that can be found by players of both servers.

 

Correct answers may win a prize at the end of the week. However, only a certain number of prizes can be given out and all correct answers are entered into the prize pool. Please do not try and use multiple accounts to get better odds! We check account connections. If you're caught doing this, you will be automatically disqualified from present and future competitions... Including OTHER events on the forums as well.

 

Correct answers that are not chosen for the weekly prize will gain points depending on how many people get the correct answer! When you've saved up 20 points (points will be kept track in the 3rd post of each thread), you can PM me any time during the week to trade your points in for the current week's prize. You may only trade in points once a week for a single prize, so keep that in mind if you're trying to save up for a "better" prize. Winners of the weekly prize may PM me by the end of the week to opt out of the weekly prize, instead receiving the amount of points awarded as a participation prize for that week, up to a maximum of 20.

 

Please keep in mind that the theme for each week is not always a factor in figuring out the puzzle. This does not mean that it will never have an impact, but rather that you should not assume that you must travel to a location or that the answer must fit the theme given in that week's conundrum.

 

Prizes are always subject to change based on Oda's discretion.

The Solution

 

The answer is 5.

There are actually a few different ways you can rearrange the outside numbers to make the grid work, but the number in the middle must always be the same: 5.

 

A very easy one this week (there was a reason behind it) with a total of 100+ correct answers, and the five winners are:

Everyone else that answered correctly but did not get selected for the weekly prize have earned 0 points this week!

 

Important: Unfortunately it appears that I can only view up to 100 responses without paying for the survey service. When I ran the RNG for numbers, nothing over 100 came up so I can still give prizes to the above listed winners. Unfortunately, however, I cannot award points for this round as it would not be fair to those that answered after the first 100 responses were sent in. Sorry about that!

 

Your prize will (eventually) be mailed to or in the inventory of the character you listed on the answer page. If you would like to opt to not receive this week's prize and instead receive points equal to the participation prize, please PM me before the end of the week.

 

Please note: the two-week guarantee thing wasn't working too well as Oda has a lot of other responsibilities that come before getting prizes out. I will try to post in the current week's thread what prizes have been given out, but please be aware that you will get your prizes eventually, it just might take a few weeks. If I've posted that prizes for the week you won have been given out and you don't have yours, then THAT would be the time to PM Oda or I. Sorry about the inconvenience!

I got some 'splainin to do...

 

It looks like I can only view up to 100 responses on a single survey, and there were a few more than a hundred on this one. This means that I'm not awarding points as it wouldn't be fair to the people whose responses I cannot see.

 

The RNG did not come up with any numbers past 100 (though it did have a certain affinity to the number 42 for some reason, which came up THREE TIMES IN A ROW before it moved on...it must really like kimmiethekookie) so I'm still awarding the Bloody Branches to the five winners.

 

Many people noted that this one was particularly easy, and there was a reason for that... I wanted to see how many people would be able to answer what I considered an 'easy' question compared to what I consider to be 'hard' questions. There's definitely a lot more people making an attempt / viewing the puzzles than I thought (I never thought I'd see 100+ responses when the previous highest weeks have all stayed steady at around 75), so I'm glad to know there are a lot of people at least giving the puzzle a glance each week. Though, I am slightly suspicious over the fact that last week's thread had the least amount of views in the history of the conundrum but most correct answers. You're not all just sharing answers with friends, are you?

I'll just give up on this one and just submit random answer xD, can't think of anything useful here...

Did u notice that this conundrum was the latest posted in all the history of conundrums??   and also...u must enter the post to submit your answer right?, so if those numbers are congruent, then there is nothing strange it's just the answer was too easy

you realize that even without thinking too hard about last week's conundrum, you had a 1/5 chance of getting the right answer?

that probably also played a role in the number of entries/correct entries.

It's unfortunate for those players that have entered and weren't in the list of 100 that was available to you.
I don't know if it makes sense to enter at all using these polls anymore, if I'm not sure my answer will even reach the contest holder.

@Daray- like I said it didn't matter in the end except for the one point. I doubt it will happen again (it hasn't in the past and I purposefully made that one easy), but if for some reason it does I may definitely need to consider other options for people to submit answers.

There is a delete limit of 50 responses across all surveys for BASIC plans.

So basically someone could ruin everything by submitting a lot of garbage responses?

I've already used the 50 many many weeks ago when I tried a system of weeding out incorrect answers.
I guess if someone wanted to be mean they could. If it comes down to that I'll have to find another method of answering.
