What is penetration? Upon dmg computation penetration % is deducted from def %. Upon hit if your target tank has 90% & your penetration is 35%, you will hitting the target w/ 55% def(90 minus 35). I've tried removing all my armors to see my def & it is literally a ragnarok1 strip all armor skill. Now you'll 1-shot those non-tanks w/ ease w/ penetration build.
Why penetration? It is better & cheaper than power 40(power nerfed & now only 20% dmg). Unlike pvp runes, penetration works in pvp & pve. If you are new or who don't want to craft 2 or more sets of gears then penetration build will work for you. It can also work at WOE since you'll be a faster emp breaker by penetration reducing emp's def & also kill & even 1-shot cloth type users even at full +20.
EVENT TITLES
Event Titles updates almost each month & I've collected several. There are 2 types of testing w/c title is best for my char. One is by trying hands-on PVP & the other by computation. Testing them 1 by 1 before seems easy apprently due to the number of titles increasing, it can be confusing. I'm not going for The Grand Heart that mainly benefits knight, war, monk, cres since I'm using a bear. Also taking suggestions and advice w/ this thread.

penetration - from what i know, this lowers def of enemy w/c is best in boosting your damage. my preference, this is better than boosting your str/int/PA/MA
vigor - lowers cd of skills
haste - attack interval of melee attacks
cast speed - duration before a skill can be casted/cancelled

Conclusion: I'm goin for Summer Sculptor (1500 HP) for now though w/ recent 1 shotting mechanics, 1500 HP could be irrelevant. Thus, should take other attack modifiers if so.

Currently I'm building penetration.
As of this writing, current penetration formula wasn't changed for years but might be changed in the future due to how it's imbalanced, underrated & overpowered. To credit those this is the link http://forums.warppo...gro2-stat-calc/
Penetration = your target's defense minus your penetration(last value stat) = target's defense when you hit him
Example:
Target's def is 78% minus your penetration of 10% thus hitting him at 68%
That is why thief classes overkill even can hit more than 150k dmg. Imagine someone at 65% or less def or hitting someone at osi gears.
Also you should consider the def cap w/c 75% when considering this.
Current end game now has more access to penetration. It is cheaper than upgrading your power rune & since you may already have a high power rune, your next upgrade will be minimal.
Example:
You have power rune 24 & wanna buy power 28, that's only 4% for a large cost. But if you build penetration, it will be cheaper in cost and will do more dmg on the average.
The list of attainable penetration-abled items cheapest is eddga gloves, all have 117 penetration except tanks - bm,knight,monk. Acce - serenia earrings is 79 penetration, eddga ruby acce is 47. Next, cards - osi cheapest & blue to gold Jawaii cards for more but rather expensive. Titles - prefix of serenia card, suffix of 2 other titles.
I'm not building ranger, warrior, bm & monk for penetration. Ranger & warrior can have penetration gloves but not the latter 2.
Ranger already has 5pcs of +2 osi cards (23+5 x 5 = 140). Add the Easter title w/ 20% more from khara scroll item will be 36. And also, seren earrings 79, eddga acce 47. Total of 419 w/c will decrease target's defense of ~13.92%. That means disregard everything above 88.92% def but i will definely do more dmg w/ people below that def. Let's say my target SM has 75% def, I will be hitting him w/ his def at 61.08 like he was wearing osi or menace. 419 penetration is like I'm a default thief class on ymir now.

Future updates:
My war will be close to similar w/ this but bm & monk will have most likely -1 or 2% penetration per build due to lack of penetration on gloves. Updates should include maybe +3 cards but due to the chance of getting them is not cost effective (btw i'm using the niceboat™ database), could be if current bottleneck of not getting gold cards.
Conclusion:
By end game, if i get those cards i could have more penetration than a thief on ymir ofc if he don't also get those expensive cards.
