You know what I find really god damn silly about Classic?

 

Players see the server going to -_-, cherrypick specific, superficial things out, often things that are only directly relevant to them, and claim they're "the problem". Player attitudes. God items. Lucky boxes. Guild cap. Castles. WoE times. What have you.

 

CMs agree since they don't know any better, and declare it the problem.

 

This creates useless, superficial discussions lasting weeks, accomplishing very little except to put forward superficial solutions that don't address the actual problem.

 

Then it gets enacted, nothing changes, and people are left wondering why it didn't help.

 

CMs become hesitant to attempt to fix the game's shortcomings, superficial or otherwise, or even so much as look at the bigger picture due to an ever-growing history of failures on account of their only sources on Classic's present state, being the players, having complete and utter bias towards themselves which makes them incapable of seeing what would objectively improve the server.

 

The few people who buck this trend are met with suspicion and disdain, since it becomes an established "truth" that every player and guild is in it for themselves.

 

And thus Classic stagnates. No progress is made in anything.

 

It's a perfectly destructive cycle. It's almost beautiful in its simplicity... I think I need a moment.

I've been playing classic for about a month. Old RO player, already knew the mechanics, classes, leveling places, builds, and gears.

Started in an empty Prontera, with some few abandoned opened shops, some with those obviously hand picked 8k antelope horns, and about 5 PLAYERS, all of them trans 99, sitting and talking. And that sums the server.Went to Asgard, saw what Janeway was, and in my first character I couldn't find a single soul to do the quests with me. Stopped in the lvl 60 ones - wich were the gargoyles at the time.

Since that I made some characters, and met some ppl to do quests and level on goats with our NPC equipments, and I had much more fun doing that than when I was a WoE exclusive player, in bRO. Of couse I didn't meet the big pictures of the server, they are too occupied thinking about WoE supplies, perhaps farming BG, nidd, or leeching in Thor's or bio3. Maybe watching their sitting character, equiped with some fancy hat, speaking on the teamspeak with their guildmates the whole day.
And I can speak for myself, I did that for many years before stopping, RO was an obligation with my guild. I kept going because it was the only thing I was good at.

Not to mention the new player going to WoE with his buddies guild, a 67 priest and a 2 handed-sword knight and getting crushed by the very ones using their +9 and +10 gears and blaming classic's actual situation on Xellie's godlies.

You claim the server is dead, but the whole stablished userbase is killing it. Killing it by not playing the game, not helping new players to play the game(wich isn't giving them a trans character to play WoE for you/ET runs ASAP).
Look deep into yourselves, and ask if you are still having fun playing RO.
The happiness in this game is on the climb, not watching the view on the top. Like in life, if i may.

that is the way, I just wish we had more ways to interact with the smaller players whilst doing the big things.

I'm glad to see there's fun to be had for the more casual and social groups of players. Most people around here tend to forget that they exist because they're not always posting here.

 

How do you like Janeway with the levels/gear/locations? Have you been checking out Ice Titans now that they've gone in? I've seen quite a few groups there but havent got my feet wet yet and they seem like a much more friendly option after Janeway than Dragons.
