Hi everybody! I'm going to be teaching you about cards today - specifically about card synthesis, also known as card combining. If you want just the basics, there's this old tutorial here, but I'm going to delve in a bit deeper.
First, a few basic points that the other tutorial doesn't tell you:
- All 5 cards need to be different
- A combined card cannot be used as a material in combining (specifically Normal+ and Rare+). Regular cards obtained by combining will still work.
- Bound Cards can be synthesized. This is a good use for Dayr-area cards that you've equipped but no longer want; the result will not be bound, as it is a different card.
- All 5 cards to be combined must be the same grade (green/blue/gold)
- There is a different stone for synthesizing the different grades of card. Avaliable from the Card Master NPC are the Card Synthesis Stone (Green) for fusing Normal (Green) cards and the Epic Card Synthesis Stone (Purple) for fusing Epic (Gold) cards. Special Card Synthesis Stone (Blue), for Rare (Blue) cards, is a special drop. You will probably be able to find some on the Auction House if you need them.
- It should be noted that the Card Designated Synthesis item will only prevent the loss of the selected card, but will also restrict what the result can be to that one card's possible results.
- Each card has a maximum of 2 results: a combined card, such as Normal+, and an entirely new card. Some Rare (Blue) cards have multiple Normal (Green) cards they can be made from. As far as we are aware, only green cards can result in a new card; gold cards cannot be created from blue.
- Combining cards can result in a Normal+, Epic+, or Rare+ version of a card (same grade as the ones combined), which has slightly higher stats than the original. If you're trying for a card set, the + version will count in place of the normal version.
- Some cards can only be obtained by combining, such as the Blue (Rare) Culvert of Abyss and Abaddon of Despair cards. These cards are needed for Khara titles; Abaddon of Despair cards are highly sought for the Legendary Card Master (LCM) title.
- Some blue cards which are dropped can also be obtained through synthesis, and is often a much easier option. For example, the blue Lepar Costas card can be obtained from Leafcat Card.
- If you don't have a Card Designated Synthesis and just want some blue cards, an option would be to put in 5 that can become blue and hope for the best; some cards also are the result of more than one, such as Dostoev, so you can put the 4 options in and then another random green card.
That's all for now! Huge thanks to the other VCRs who double-checked my information to make sure it's accurate.
