Hey guys, my name is Mihail and im a 3d artist. I first started playing rose like almost 10 years ago, then i stopped! now im back !( just started a day or 2 ago, level 62 soldier)

as a kid i always drew stuff and designed my own ROSE weaponry. Now that i actually work in the field everything seems so much easier to create. Anyways, i'm on sick leave and i just play video games and make 3d models...so i figured maybe i can make my own custom set of gear you guys might like. I do this for fun so i hope you guys like it

Heres a 2handed sword i made, i called it SkullReaver's edge. if u guys wanna see more just hit me up ! Im thinking of making tons of weapons of this skullish death style :P

GmcRHjH.png

took about half an hour to make so its pretty much still in concept stage but it would be easy to bake onto a lower res mesh ( which would take another 10-20 minutes)

So what do you guys think? is it a cool style you guys would want to see in game? If so, hit me uP!

here is my website for more of my work!

the sword looks mushy. it feels like it's made of a soft slimy material with a brain like surface.

You'll want to cut the poly count down by quite a large amount. What's the current count on this.

I'm not sure I still have the message or if the totals are the same but if memory serves correctly a total characters poly count shouldn't exceed 6500. That's all body parts hair etc.

I always try to limit my weapon models to -1k.

I'd like to see this model you posted at low poly with a proper texture. [max 512x512] most use 256x256 or lower.

hehe no worries man when im not too busy leveling my champion to 230 ill definitely put a few minutes to low res the sword. I've been working with high res models since 2008 and i've never had trouble low ressing them down ever so its all good!

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my thread, i really appreciate it :)

thanks cortiz! im glad you like it!

Here is the low res of the blade i made. I cleaned up the sculpt and textures and i made a HUGE leap in polycount. During cleanup we were at 6million polys, now were at 394 polys! check out the low res

K49s5fE.png

i put it in 3ds max, this is a shot from the viewport just to show what it looks like in real time. All i need to do is make a quick spec map and we're gucci. Would be awesome to see this in game wouldnt it?!

texture map is 512x512 as per requested

hope u guys like it!

For the edges of the bevel, try breaking the phong/soft edge to give it that 'carved' feel. It still looks squishy.

Tbh, no. There's nothing wrong with the set-up for it, but ROSE is significantly more stylized then this. They won't accept anything unless it fits the art style of the game. It's a good model and texture, but it's just not the right theme really.

If you want a good feel for ROSE's 'dark n gloomy' stuff, check out some of the 1Handed Maces like blood mace / final hammer, or the behead axe. Even the phoenixhander. There are some 'dark' themed items, but you'll see the difference.

Some slight manipulation of the texture's style, and it could be an item for submission.

It's possible to modify the game data on your own client.

Any change will only affect your own view.

In this case, only he could see what he's holding ^^

Feuer used to show me a lot of his work too & they're great.

I wanted to learn how to do like this too!

Indeed ! Theres a few softwares that we use in order to complete the process in order to implement our own skins in game but after a while it becomes very simple!

Client modification is a touchy subject Malaka, you're actually lucky I taught you, the only reason I did was because I'd heard about Leo's interest in your ability's, so I figured it was best if you could literally see how your models fare once in game. All those tools I sent you and the like are also not official tools, so if the tools broke the game clients, they're not supported, and the MODer would have to reinstall, hopefully after they managed to back up their MOD's that worked. This would be an added nuisance to the staff, and could potentially cause them to change the rules on MOD'ing. Hence why in the past, i refused to make a guide on it.
