Hello, I'm a newbie player in RO2 and I want to make a Monk in this game. I'm already set on my stats /skill builds, so my only concern will be the items and professions. So my questions are;

1. Which profession can give me the most benefits as a newbie-monk player?

2. How can I gear my monk specially on mid-levels? will the quests provide the good gears or can I grind the gears?

That's all, I'll be playing in Odin server hope someone can answer my questions. Thanks! :p_laugh:

monk gear is crafted by artisan, so if you plan to craft your own gear later on (Menace, Joser, Osiris, and Himmelmez gear at ML are all crafted gears as opposed to drops). The other profession that might be useful would be alchemist for the health potions.

The best gear imho is the blue gear that drops from dungeon bosses, and is given as quest rewards from doing dungeon quests. However it is possible to get blue gear from farming mobs close to your level but will take AGES (in my experience). Another possible way of getting gear is trying your luck with pandora boxes but it really is a lottery, but it is possible to get purple Epic gear using keys to open boxes (as opposed to mallets).

No, you can see there are no news after december 2014, not even the exp table is updated a lot of things are still valid but you have to doublecheck here in forum or in pub chat  :p_err:

Stat chart for your reference. Stat choice really depends on playstyle:
PVE = Standard Full VIT, tank build is preferred. You want VIT for the HP bonus, not necessarily the Defense, because you'll hit the cap relatively easily using proper gear and Steel Body + Iron Skin (if you refine your endgame gears, Iron Skin isn't even necessary). Better HP pool to absorb hits and tank more monsters in grinding.
PVP = Either Full VIT or Full AGI, or some mix. Again, you want VIT because of the HP bonus (helps you survive those pesky DOT skills that bypass defense). You want Dodge from AGI because of the excellent modifier that Monks have. High Dodge combined with your naturally high Defense makes you very tanky.

I wouldn't really recommend a full STR build in many cases because due to the way damage is calculated, the impact is quite negligible. That is unless you do tons of PVP and you dedicate yourself to destroying high dodge targets. STR builds are mostly for getting a higher Hit stat which you'll need to hit other high dodge targets. There's also a very cheesy 1v1 perma-stun build you can make, and having High hit makes that more likely to succeed.

Deciding between STR vs INT (mostly a card/rune choice), always choose STR if you can. Damage wise, they have the same benefits, but as you see from the chart, STR offers better Parry and better Hit.

Last note: until you reach Master Level, your stats will be capped at 50. Save up your stat points once you reach this cap, then when you become Master Level, the cap is removed and you can place all 350 stat points into whatever you like. There's a Stat Reset Vellum when you reach level 35 if you decide you want to change your stat build, but to be perfectly honest, your stat build is negligible. Even a difference of +/- 50 stats or whatever won't be noticeable enough for you to worry about.

@Arbalist Thanks for the concise info for the stats!

I still don't know how I can acquire new gears after the gears given when I do the job change to monk. I'd like to ask until what level I can use those gears? And I guessfor new gears, those can be acquired on dungeons and quest?

P.S. Sorry if I have lots of questions, I just find it difficult to find updated info here in the forums. This thread may help new players as well.   :no1:

Any monster can drop gears near his level, bosses drops better gears always around their level
