You cannot expect a community to understand that.
All people that works with a community know about what a community is and can't (sadly) be.

I guess it would be really better to do not give any estimate ending time, but just to say the maint might last 4 or 5 hours, even 7, or even more if needed, and that it will begin at a certain time.

If people is not willing to wait for your work when they know they have to, they does not deserve your attention.
Not like they gonna say thanks once you end it.

And i repeat myself, who works with a community can understand it.
