How would one go about building a Battle Blacksmith?

Depends on what you want to achieve, for instance, I went with a VIT build that looked something like:

Str 99+6
Agi 24+2
Vit 74+6
Int 28+2
Dex 38+12
Luk 1 +2

That's at 99/50 without any gears so you might want to rework that to fit any stat gears you'll be using. It worked quite well the Int and Agi going towards Sp and rounding off my atk speed at an even 180 with the gears I was using. It was a fairly easy build to level but I've also seen people who go the Agi route and try to go for 190 atk speed. For your skills I went with

Hilt Binding 1
Hammer fall 5
Skin Tempering 5
Weaponry Research 10
Adrenaline Rush 5
Weapon Perfection 5
Power Thrust 5
Power Maximize 5

Which left me with 8 points left over which I used to get Vending. This is assuming you change to smith at job 50. As I said before, it worked well for me but I had some good gears to start with. I can't speak for agi builds but I can say that this one was fairly expensive all things considered.

Blackpeppir has it pretty much perfect!

The only thing I would suggest is getting enough AGI to obtain 190 ASPD with a Medal of Honor (or two depending on your preference and/or if you want an accessory slot open). The INT is negotiable too if you can manage an alt account with a married priest on it. I had no problems with 1 base INT and this setup.

This build is much faster and cheaper to maintain, as a blacksmith you want to be killing things fast and taking the least amount of damage to save as much zeny as possable since mamo will drain u fast. this build looks at high flee with mocking undershirt and pantie combo (whispercard can come later) with a reasonable amount of vit for potions in exchange for lower str. this build is more for event based leveling and soloing basic monster up to anubus.

the build above is move for highly gear thors levelers were my build is for basic cheap equips (elemental weapons are highly effective so dont be afraid to attempt forging as a battlesmith)

1 last thing... if u can get enough str for doom slayer and enough agi for decent atk speed (2xmedals) the stun rate is basicly the same as HPCR and the break chance is VERYhigh making u a very very scary blacksmith

Oh IronFist, that's horrid. Why is the str so low? It makes me cringe. Agi is MUCH too high-- smiths don't flee, and with battleground medals, you can easily achieve godly aspd. Knock the luck off, put agi down to 60 or 70 base, increase the str to 9x, and fit the rest between vit and dex as you wish.

I just read the thor part. Are you kidding me? For thor you need 9x str, hardly any agi, at LEAST 6x base dex, and the rest in vit. And as a blacksmith, you won't be getting any more exp/hr mammoing kasas than you would HOs unless you're double megged.

As a blacksmith i made a full set of elemental weapons. i hunted low def most which my elemental axes were good. i was doing around 800 damage even with lower str, strouf are a good thing to level on i 99d on them
higher flee allowed me to mob kill with cart revo and make me a GODTANK at ice titans. 99 str is nice but having 240 flee is nicer

If you intend to level quickly at all, you should maximize your str for full use of mammonite (as a Blacksmith).

I am also a agi smith but I I just leave it at 90agi and 9x str, 38dex and rest 1 >.> working on the medal of honor but that will take forever with me lol.

I built this thing pretty much just to kill lolis... it doesn't flee 100%, but with my gears I'm getting 10k hp.

78 AGI
42 VIT
1 INT
38 DEX (comes to even 50 with job bonuses)
3 LUK (evens out with job bonus, extra attk for very little investment)


I reach 190 aspd (with 2x MoH and Flapping Angel Wings).

With aspersio and % modded orcish axe I can do 1k dmg per hit to a loli. I really like to watch 4 digit numbers at 190...

I'm going to switch to vit when I trans.

This is Basically my setup as a regular Smith.

I liked the build so much I stuck with it as a Mastersmith.
I got more DEX.

I regret sticking with the build now that my Mastersmith is 99. I should have went SVD.

My Mastersmith build is 99 Str / 93 Vit / 38 Dex

It's really kind of... low speed cart ram... compared to some of the others, but once you get BG accessories, zerk pot, and AR, it isn't so bad.
