[Hanuh]

I'm trying to create a new semi support but DPS character. Im kinda torn between sorc or priest so can anyone give me opinions?

 

What are the pros and cons of the two class? Thanks

Just take priest,the most broken class right now, in overall pve + pvp

Priest is definitely more popular, but I always appreciate a talented Sorc A few pros/cons off the top of my head:

Sorc Pros:
-Decent AOE damage, can actually achieve 8x damage on their AOEs if you know what you're doing (requires Embus pet though)
-Fireball DoTs are OP
-Their main focus is AOE healing, which doesn't generate threat
-Memorize lets you instant cast 3 spells which is helpful since you're squishy
-High Magic stat means investing in a lvl 4 pet for DPS is nice
-Would be a good candidate for "classes needing a buff...eventually
-Can have multiples in a raid without overriding each other's attacks too often

Sorc Cons:
-Squishy (in general). As a cloth class, you'll be likely to want/need refined gear.
-Less desired in parties but only because people don't like to change their playstyles to make the best use of Sorc's abilities in parties. 
-Takes patience to excel
-Falls behind in PVP because they don't have quite as many broken skills relative to others.
-Only Fireball DoT damage ignores defense, and sadly that's only good for 1v1.


Priest Pros:
-DoT damage ignores defense, which end-game grind monsters have a ton of
-Ability to have really really really long stun chains (but not quite perma-stun. Almost, but not quite).
-Very strong in PVP
-Much better at burst healing and single target healing.
-High Magic stat means investing in a lvl 4 pet for DPS is nice
-Endgame priests can sometimes even replace tanks in grinding due to amazing stun and other things.

Priest Cons:
-Squishy (in general). As a cloth class, you'll be likely to want/need refined gear. However, slightly more surviva ability over sorc due to burst healing.
-If you don't learn to heal properly, you'll generate a ton of threat. AOE healing is very risky
-You have to roll for an extra piece of equipment (Bible) in raids/buy an extra piece if it's crafted. 
-Everyone hates you in PVP, you'll be targeted a lot. But then you can revenge kill with ease.
-Multiple priests are highly likely to overwrite each other's DoTs and HoTs. Communication is key!

sorc have seven pros over six :v

You're forgot about burst enough attack skills (not only FB), overlayable LoR heals but most skills needs to be casted and getting much less vigor\cast speed from gears

Priest can have much more matk from Archangel + Sacrament 30s buff from crit heal, two spammable HoT's, getting more vigor from gears (>_>) but getting less vit and they are next after swordies who going to be nerfed lol

now both have nine pros
