well i posted when the score was like 4-0 or something. the Japanese side was being dismantled.
even though it's been 16 yrs, this was a rematch of the 2011 WWC where US lost on PKs in a heartbreaking fashion.
several notes:
1st ever rematch
US only team to win WWC 3 times
Carli Lloyd fastest player to hat trick in WWC (16 mins lol)
Highest combined score in a WWC final game (7)
What a way to send off retiring players like Wambach and Rampone.
Hopefully the US has a similar showing in the 2016 Olympics.
