Primer / Selling Points

  • This would greatly return the value to 0.02% drops to early game monsters, which will in turn put a lot of zeny into the hands of new players.
  • New players can also enchant the things they find, giving them useful headgears to use in their early stages of the game.
  • By design, this shouldn't negatively impact later game balance, since even the rarest combinations here would only be slightly below comparable to currently popular gears.
  • Solves the problem of rare but obsolete drops being depressing
  • Its a way of getting rid of all those extra cards without implementing a dangerous OCA exchange which people tend to ask for now and again.

The NPCS
Well say these npc should be in alberta, because alberta needs some love.

Eugino the card collector
Found at Alberta 99, 110. He looks like a kid and has blond spikey hair with red highlights and a blue jacket.
This npc will gladly take any card off your hands. He isn't particular about the cards so he won't assign different values to the cards based on what they do. Every card is worth the same, to him.

When you talk to Eugino a menu listing the first 4 stacks of cards he sees in your inventory comes up, and a cancel choice. Picking the card name moves to the next dialog "are you sure you want to give me one [poring card]?" The bracket portion in red. Confirming he gives you one of his treasured "collector's coins" from his favorite pizza parlor and arcade.

Found at Alberta 99,121.
Nearby, we have Patty, who is planning to take her nephew to his favorite pizza parlor and arcade, but just doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money on the party. She's a talented protective charm enchanter and is willing to enchant certain headgears in exchange for collector's coins.

Bring me a +5 or higher (item from a select list) and I will give it mdef +6 ~ mdef +12 for one coin.
If you bring the same item back I can put a second enchant of vit 1~3 or int 1~3 on it for another coin.

Mdef +4 : 40% chance
Mdef +6 : 30% chance
Mdef +8 : 20% chance
Mdef +10 : 8% chance

Kittanig wants rare metals for his new rune midgard business venture. If you have any collector coins he'll ask for them in exchange for ehancing one of your headgears from a select list with a special powder he plucked from splendide.

Bring me a +5 (item from a select list) and I will enchant it with spell 1~5 for 1 coin.
If you bring the same item back I can put a second enchant of dex 1~3 or int 1~3 on it for another coin.

Bring me a +5 (item from a select list) and I will enchant it with expert archer 1~5 for 1 coin.
If you bring the same item back I can put a second enchant of dex 1~3 or agi 1~3 on it for another coin.

The masked fighter is broke and thinks he might be able to buy a new future with enough ski ball wins at his favorite pizza parlor and arcade. Bring him collector's coins and he'll fine tune certain headgears for fighting in the ring.

Bring me a +5 (item from a select list) and I will enchant it with fighting spirit 4~9 for 1 coin.
If you bring the same item back I can put a second enchant of str 1~3 or vit 1~3 on it for another coin.

-1st enchant-

like it; for the masked man are you looking for a headgear that covers all 3 head positions? if so, there aren't all that many, and the most common ones to obtain will probably be the munak/bongun hats.

since it takes up all 3 head slots I'd suggest making the enchants for that particular item a bit stronger than the rest.

All three or top 2, because the mid/lower ones can't be +5'd :(

You could do 30 atk, 5 hit, and 3 str on a top+mid with what I suggested already. That isn't good enough? How much atk would be good enough?

working off the iro wiki db, the only droppable upper/mid headgears are goggles or coifs which have class restrictions.

bongun/munak hats still look like the best bet, unless you want to open up possibilities to crafted hats like the zealotus mask (which has some pretty neat effects built in already).

I think the current FS enchant level is fine, just thinking maybe an extra pt or two in the stat. so instead of up to +3, maybe up to +5 or something.

Maybe just move it off masks and top gears, but more fighty oriented onces.

Suggest some old useless headgears below, and which npc would enchant it!

 

Reworked the list a bit.

 

Base cost for non-slotted stuff: 1 coin

Base cost for slotted stuff: 2 coins

 

Some headgears already have decent stuff by default, so those will require double the coins. In case of the Valk Helm, I'd vote for doubling the double :v

Actually, I don't know. I suppose the way the hat was acquired? XD Some hats don't make sense on their multiplier now that I re-read the list.

I thin k the baseline might be 2 coin for a slotted thing, 1 coin for non slot
And double coin cost if the item has decent baked in effects (like ulles cap), resulting in 4 coin for ulle's etc.

If you wana rework your list to that to save me time I'd appreciate it :D

Project purpose is to make 0.02% rare headgears and cards from monsters not be depressing. Or tedious item mixing at npc quests that result in a useless item. So I am going to point out cash shop gears as I go along for removal unless someone wants to debate the merits of them.

Golden gear - why double? Does nothing
Lif doll - this might be op @ penny npc, 20+ mdef from a headgear? Also isn't this one from a lucky box?
Dress hat - from lucky box it doesn't need to be on list
Charming ribbon - cash shop
Purple cowboy - cash shop
Wanderer sakkat - cash shop
Criatura academy hat [1] - eh, no. not a rare drop or hard quest item.
Cursed book - already viable in meta (cheaper alt. Tol rideword that doesn't require $irl)
Scooter hat - cash shop(?)
Detective hat - why double? Does nothing

-Removed Golden Gear's and Detective's Hat double modifier

-Removed Lucky Box hats and Scooter hat.

I think this would be a pretty well received update if kro sent us something like this

Just think, every card dropped could be turned into a coin worth 200k? 500k? To other players. No more noobies not getting excited about a rare card drop.

Should specify coordinates before kRO or iRO drops them into an obscure area or the ocean.

There are ways RNG makes life a hell without breaking anything. Heard of Malangdo Enchants or Temporal Boots enchants? XD

I like the chances XD So many headgears will up in price because of this, and seeing as they are bothersome to craft, they coul get a nice destiny. Imagine a EA5/DEX+3 Valk Helm X3

Yeah! And I don't think too many people will argue its overpowered or anything. It'd be comparable to an evil marching hat and probably way more expensive.
