No Client Info Possible Fix

So we have a fix that MIGHT work with the no client info error.

Download and place these two files in the data folder in your Ragnarok Online Directory.

In theory this should fix the issue. Please note that this is an experimental fix and it may not work. Please post if it works or doesn't work to fix your no client info error.

It works, however I'm currently getting sprite errors for any classic custom things.

May I ask who was responsible for developing the fix? You didn't credit anyone.

 

Was it Sec9? If so love you guys keep up the awesome work ^o^

 

No sprite errors here btw.

Here's a couple. It's basically all the custom Classic gear, cant even get to Character select on one account because it's wearing a bunch of things and just Grav errors after clearing the sprite errors. Stuff like Prontera Warp Passes are apples etc.

 

I am running RCX if that matters?

Same thing, my Renewal client isnt super up to date either (probably nothing in the last 3-4 months) but I cant patch it either because it's complaining about not being able to write thumbs.db.

 

Edit: Lets me open Renewal and spews our similar sprite errors. It could just be my client I may try reinstalling if it's buggered.

RCX doesn't have anything to do with that.  I would try reinstalling first even though people would disagree that should be last.

 

That sprite error is the murican hat.

 

Not certain this will work but you can unzip this into your data dir, its the missing sprite.

Yeah I'm already installing now, I know how weird the game can be. I dont think the one sprite would work because when I would head to the middle of Prontera I'd get like 30 or so sprite errors at once amongst the vendors, so it was the game not recognising any of the new stuff.

 

Let you know in a few minutes how it fares on a fresh install.

 

Edit: Fresh client, both patchers fully up to date and still getting apples and multiple sprite errors.

 

I wonder if they're linked to the other patch_allow.txt freeze which I'm still getting. Takes 4-8 crashes -> reopening to get the patcher to run properly.

A majority of the time when I open the Classic patcher it looks exactly like the picture Pie posted that and stops responding. You can eventually get it to "work" by just closing it then opening it (like 5-6 times) and it will eventually work properly.

I tried adding the two files. It doesn't give me the no clientinfo error anymore (thanks!), but now I get another error. "World NULL"

NOT A SOLUTION, BUT A WORKAROUND FOR CLASSIC:

Not sure if it will work for Renewal.

 

Classic:

1. Create a shortcut to clragexe.exe

2. Right click the newly created shortcut and go into Properties

3. On "Target:" field, add "1old1" to the end of the string (without quotes)

4. Run the game through this shortcut, but don't forget to use the patch (ClassicRO.exe) after every maintenance to keep your game updated.

 

Why is it happening?

Not sure, but I'v come with some possibilities:

 

1. In newly systems, the game open so quickly that there's no time to the client read the data.grf or cdata.grt for the .xml file.

 

2. cclientinfo.xml is inside cdata.grf. Maybe it is meant to be on data.grf instead? <- Please check that, Campitor.

 

Downloading the files from the first post will make the game open from the patch because it's faster to read a folder then a enormous .grf file.

But there's another problem: by opening Classic through the patch, some sprites go missing and even maps become inaccessible.

 

By doing the shortcut thing, the client is skipping what makes the sprites disappear and also skip the need for the cclientinfo.xml.

I believe I told the CMs already to do this with the clientinfo.xml, but its easier to just put it in the data directory.
