The assumption above is just my personal opinion based on what the market, the availability of those medallions ingame.
But, please bear in mind that they're one of the rarest items ingame, and their price never remains stable.
It all depends on their availability over the market as well as the supply and demand at the moment.
Maybe you can get the whole set of medallion for the price above, but in all circumstances, it will take you much time and effort around Junon.
On the other hand, if you are willing to pay more, to pay higher I'm pretty sure those vendor out there who already possesses the complete set would whisper you without hesitation.
In short, money wins it all, the early bird catches the worm, so why waste 1-2 weeks collecting one by one when you can spend some extra billions and save all those precious time. Money can be gained day by day but time once passed, never returned.
