Hello,

I am new to the Chaos server on Ragnarok I want to make some z so I can level with my boyfriend and buy some gears. I have no clue clue what the pricing for art is on this server so I will just post some of my work and you guys can suggest some pricing guide lines.

I look forward to drawing for all of you!

Spoiler

Really up to you how you feel you want to be compensated for your time. Some of the high profile artists typically price their stuff around 500mil on average. My pricing is MUCH lower than other artists since I'm not in dire need of zeny, so don't use me as a reference.

I am not really sure where I stand in line of being compared to professionals. I do not do illustrating as a living only odd jobs on the side, my main profession is Graphic Design and Web Design. Thank you for the help though Zero, I noticed you use to play on Iris from your profile I use to play there back in 2007.

Easy way to go about it is gauge how long it takes for you to do a character art (since most people here request character art). Then determine how much zeny you should get for using that time to draw instead of playing RO.

Yeah, I miss Iris. The economy on there wasn't nearly as insane as new Chaos's economy now.

It all really depends on what the class of the person is. I like to spend 1-2 weeks on a coloured piece just so I do not rush it. But stuff like a lord knight would take me 1-3 weeks. Was just hoping to get a quote based on the drawings I posted above just to see before I start.

Yeah Iris was fun I was in the guild called Fury was very fun.

This is a new account so I was only able to post three times before 13 August 2015. So I will try replying to people in this thread by editing this post.

Post replies until the 13th

@ZeroTigress: Thank you for the help but I am still really confused with the pricing. I am not sure what you guys would like to pay for my style of art, I do not do anime style very often so I thought it may be cheaper seeing the market looks like it demands more of that style.

Take the average of how long it takes for you to do character art. :U Can't really change your prices depending on what commissions you get. People prefer flat rates.

I think the first step you can take to pricing is how you're going to categorize your services. Some artists categorize based on monochrome/color (like me and a few others); others categorize their services by art style (chibi/realistic/anime/etc.). And then organize which ones take the least amount of effort (which should be cheapest) to which take the most amount of effort (which should be the most expensive).

I dunno but I think majority of the folks who're doing art commissions around here aren't really professional artists but hobbyists. I must say that your art price is dependent on how you value your own artworks. If you think you're doing a great job and the demand is high, you can raise your price accordingly. But for starters, you might want to border around cheap to average and see how people like your work then decide if your artworks deserve to have higher value zenny-wise or not (yet). ^^

idk if this would help but i gauge mine based on the time i could work on those (plus the play time that would be taken from me considering i work on art industry in the morning and in the night or weekends would usually be my downtime- a.k.a. do what i want or play ragnarok all i can) and to the amount of adjusting i have to do in the art.

since im just new here in iRO i priced mine 200m for chibis compared to 150m flat colored full bodied chars basing on the fact that:

1. i have to adjust to the chibi style, therefore minimal armor since im basing on the official sprite art, chibi and full body art of RO chars.

2. it takes me much longer to lineart/ draft chibi  than full body sketch since i know i dont have a definite proportions to it yet (well for my style ><) takes me 2-3 weeks to finish 1 chibi art D:

3. 150m for full bodied chars because thats my line of work outside RO1 :P i barely draw chibis nowadays unless commissioned since i am trying to set up my own style. >n<

4. i charge extra if a.) additional char, b.) mounts or carts included, etc. :) since it would add to additional time lol

*check the pricing of other ppl here then weigh on what you can deliver. that helped a lot for me. XD meet halfway if you could.

*also give buffer time for your work. sometimes things like blackout happens or something came up. something like that.

im not also after high priced work for now since i just wanna play RO casually. though i needed gears for my archbishop.

p.s.: people here are awesome tho because they fully support the artists. <3
