I decided to make a Monk and I would like to know which kind of build is better for leveling up till 99 and which build will I use to MVP later when I get to trans~sura?

I tried to gather informations around the forum but all I got was sura-like, and I don't know anything about monks and so. I would really appreciate some help.

Thank you.  :p_laugh:

(need some help with skills too...)

Truth is, you'll be Monk and then Champ in a flash...leveling is pretty easy in Renewal.  Check iRO wiki for both Monk and Sura builds so you can see how you make the transition from one to the other. Personally, I used Combo Build as Monk/Champ, then Skyblow build as Sura and then resetted skills and stats for Flash Combo-Tiger Cannon-Gates of Hell

(Keep in mind that the wiki has outdated data, those stat builds were from when we had 150/50 cap)  :ani_shy:

Ok..as Monk, you'll find yourself lacking skill points for skills you want, but as Champion you'll have a surplus of points to allocate into Aco skills because the single one Champion skill that is worthy is ZEN (Maybe Raging Palm Strike too for PvP/WoE)

Suras tend to do several skill resets through their leveling so don't freak out.  Also keep in mind that the builds require heavy investment in skill points.

To give you some ideas, this was my Monk build:

http://irowiki.org/~...fdAhFhOrdeDkskK

Then as Champ, my build became like this:

http://irowiki.org/~...FrBrdeDlfrAabJy

If you feel like trying WoE TE or plan to do some PvP WoE as Sura, I'd suggest you leave Spiritual Cadence at prereq level for Snap so you can get Decrease AGI from your Acolyte skill tree.

Hope this helps  :p_idea:

Thanks for the help! So, which one of those builds is better for MVPing?

Gates of hell, tiger cannon, tank...

:p_laugh:

(for end-game, I mean)

If you look closely, you can see that Tank, Tiger Cannon/Flash Combo and Gates of Hell builds have suggested stat ranges within each other so with enough tweaking of your part, you can have those in one build.  Only difference would be the gears you'll equip depending on what you want to do on the moment.  With the new level cap we have enough skill points for both maxed Tiger Cannon( +Flash Combo) and Gates of Hell at job lv 60.

your choice

low-mid tier solo MvPing (and still want to do WoE/PvP) → standard WoE end-build; ATK + HP gears

  • use manual combo TC for 2x damage (or TC via FC if you still didn't get rid of it from leveling);
  • bosses that AGI-up still get hit by TC's AoE if you target its slaves; this means using a weapon that maximizes TC damage on that target (ex. caramel cards vs mistress' slaves, instead of AK cards) and proper elemental converters;
  • for very low-HP slaves that die before TC (ie. from DC>FE alone), start the combo (DC>FE) on the boss itself (or another nearby slave), then just chain the TC on the target slave (after FE and before TC, just click and hold on the new target)
  • set aside GoH for WoE/PvP only (or very low tier bosses that are easily tank-able even you have low/half HP; also combo this for more damage)
  • works best on BBs or instances (where you don't have to compete w/ other players)

duo w/ genetic or with a party (gen+AB+strings+etc) → same build as above; just use MS and change gears: reduc + HP (reflect and status resist/immune if needed)

  • you basically tank for the ones w/ higher DPS

pure solo MvPing and/or duo w/ AB (buffs+lex) → pure GFist; ATK + SP gears

  • the goal of this build is to finish the job quickly (ideally with 1 GFist), which makes this more competitive for MvPing (for bosses that spawn naturally on maps);
  • the better your setup (gears+buffs+consumables), the more bosses you can 1-shot (or less GFists needed for high-HP bosses)
  • can still participate in PvP w/ GFist (less effective in WoE)
  • this works best with very good gears, otherwise your damage will be mediocre (take note of the 10-sec no-SP-regen cooldown after fisting - which made this build rarer than before)

※note "ATK" here includes +ATK, %ATK, %damage mods/cards/gears

Thank you both, I'll go level up my monk right now with your tips.

I am really grateful!
