i currently have 2 twin edge both have archer skel cards in them. But these sword don't really do me any good except for the ranged bonus from archer skels. What is another good weapon with three slots for a gene or 4 slots. That I can use?

Yes, in the overwhelming majority of cases.

 

RTE has a high attack value and is a level 4 weapon, which is definitely important for a geneticist. Moreover, there's a future update which will allow you to enchant them as well
