Facebook is easier to use for most people.

Well, yeah I see the matter of choice. But talking of experience, I once joined a guild and I had to apply to its 3rd party website regarding iRO. All cool and nice, very well organized. One day someone got scammed by that impersonating approach and I'm probably wrong, but making more profiles of yourself for other people to have access to your personal info doesn't it make you more open to atks such as this?

A lot of people use their actual Facebook accounts and that's pretty hard to fake.
Not sure if you've used the Facebook market thread for example, but it's pretty nice when you're trying to sell things.

No matter what there's always going to be dubious people out and about trying to scam or steal from people.

It's pretty easy to confirm that someone is who they say they are.

I mean I'm not trying to discredit your concern, but I feel like it's safe enough.

To stay on topic, most people use fake facebook accounts so they don't want to be retraced while completing a RMT deal, to troll people without even caring to be recognized and at last it's easier to scam people if they don't know your real info.

I understand, but I don't feel any safety when I give strangers access to my personal info, that can backfire, there is a great chance to happen.

Forum isn't 100% clean of frauds or fakes anyway.

it's true fb, isn't free of any of that,  the OP is talking about making parties, not selling items. That is completely different fb group, and topic. So you are not required to associate more than forming a party, or joining one.

*Here is where most people make a different fb, just for doing things on Iro, or because there is too much private info on the real fb. so you can decide how private to make yourself.*

either way, you are going to be listing your character name and class, possibly level (if applicable).

I disagree with you.
People who are RMTing don't care who they are selling their stuff to.

You should always have caution when dealing with people.

In most trades no one has to go first unless it's something like WPE.

Schitter does a very good job in policing the Facebook group with not only who he allows in, but the community is also very vocal about shaming scammers and they will be promptly dealt with if proof is provided.

I can understand not wanting someone to know your info or have access to your friends list, but in reality what is someone going to do to you?

Most people already know your name in game if you're well known or have an active relationship with your guild.

You can always make a Facebook just for Ragnarok and easily confirm with friends that you are who you say you are.

I'd rather be skeptical about any 3rd party website. But thank you for clarifying your point.

You are right Tigress, it's not advertised well, but even still, because bio parties take a bit of time to form, most people go afk, or alt tab. And aside from sitting in a chat and getting dings.... that you might be listening for.... or miss. I think the facebook way would be easier. Mostly because assuming you reply to the post that you want in the party, the leader could then send out "we are ready" comment, once everyone is geared and required classes are there. People generally check their phones when they get a notification. this will allow many players, like me who have evil kids, to kick said kids off the computer and do a party.

You can set notifications in the forums, too. I don't think it makes a noise if you receive anything, if the noise is what's important.

I don't find any problem with using Facebook - even your real account - to initiate RO in-game activities. I don't cheat, bot, use illegal third party programs, or scam people so there isn't anything for me to hide. That being said, I don't interact with suspicious strangers either, nor do I buy/sell WPE to people I don't know and trust. Sure, there are profitable opportunities lost if I look to make big profit, but if you want to deal with potential scammers and such you better be damn ready to take that risk. The Facebook group is made up of many legit players with the occasional scammer here and there, so with the numbers in our odds you shouldn't be too concerned with frauds and scams.

And trolls: meh, I don't care enough to really be bothered by them. They give me cool nicknames like Mr. Rice Krispy.
